Wait explain that one...

These are cool, but I never see them until after they're answered.

Jeff is correct.

Mr Ed (talking horse) + auditor - mr(mister) aud(australian dollars) = editor

round room lacking = what do round rooms lack? they lack corners ... therefore editor's corner
2004-08-03, 6:41 PM #44
A meeting between a talking horse (ed) and an auditor over missing mister australian dollars' (aud ...which you remove from auditor because it's "missing", leaving 'itor') round room lacking (I already had a good idea by this point and a round room lacks one thing, 'corners').

(damn, posted at same time! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif] )

Wowzers - just started reading this thread and all of these without exception have been awesome so far [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]. Bit by bit, I'm piecing together how you do them, although as Sarn mentioned earlier, often I only "see" them after they've been pointed out - that said, keep 'em coming as they're great fun [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

Odd characters in shot - ugly brow and ten romans are kept here?

This is a fun way to spend lunchtime...

gotta be Spiral, surely?

CavEmaN - that's what I was doing with that clue, just going through as many names as I could think of with the available letters, but I cannot work out the pirate reference!

Correct. In case anyone missed why:

"Eagerly anticipated" - speaks for itself

"partial apology" - apology = "sorry", partial apology = "ory"

"nothing in a lab rat" - nothing = 0 = o, put in "lab rat" = "laborat"

"ory" following "laborat" = "laboratory"

That would be a good thing with a cryptic clue.

A lane, winding, leads to the council.

And if Overlord isn't correct, how about Warlord? "rise" referring to a social uprising rather than a locational "physically higher than" type rising?

[Edit: explanation rather than clue - clue is unchanged!]
