No guns. Only ****ty medieval stuff.

Except the Thief series isn't FPSs. They're more like First Person Stealth. You're not supposed to go in guns blazing. You need to sneak around and kill everyone one by one (if you want) or just avoid everyone.

Resistance one is one of the most boring and unimersive games I've played. I can't play it with my brother at all, it's too dull.

Resistance 2 on the other hand, though the SP isn't that much better, the MP is great!

Been playing CoD WaW and despite what I'd heard it seems ok at the moment.

I have experienced the insane grenade deaths and bayonet deaths but to be fair the Japanese were that brutal and hateful.

And the bit with resucing US Sailors from the sea after an attack... was so harsh leaving so many...

Beat the campaign and play the bonus.

Zombie Mode is pretty badass, but if they dont eventually release more levels for that game mode its going to get old fast

I try to only buy games that I'm fairly confident in... No FPS jumps to mind right away as being the worst :/
2009-01-06, 5:42 AM #88
I typically don't go out and buy random games, just things i know I like. So for the worst, I'd have to say Zombie Panic: Source. In part due to the twitch nature, in part because the Source engine doesn't like my KVM setup and lags :(

Call of Duty: WaW should have been sold as a $20 expansion pack to the original. Because seriously, that is ALL it is. Change the models around, throw in a few bolt action rifles, make a few new maps, and there you go. Oh, and a zombie mode. Not to mention the atrocious glitches in the game. Thanks, Activision!

I played Goldeneye 007 for N64 the other night... its nowhere near as good as i remember it... pretty terrible now in fact.

Yea, man, I played it a couple years ago with my little cousins, and they completely destroyed me. Not only do I suck at it now (It's hard to control now!!!) but yea, not as fun.

Far Cry 2 is a by far the worst FPS I've ever played, if not the worst game overall.

For me it would have to be King Kong, based off the movie recently....

I expected alot more from it, the worst part was you dont run with your gun out, you have to take it out each time to shoot which wastes time... then if you die and respon sometimes models dont load all the way so part of peoples faces are missing....

God no, Farcry 1 is worse.

Now that I think about it, it probably wins my "Worst game" award.

Still thinking about it though. I usually only try games that have high praise.

Seriously, more of you should play Nam.

Far Cry 1 actually had a story. And a point. That's more than what FC2 has.

I find this statement to be a tremendous error.

Theres games I enjoy alot that got mediocre reviews. Remember you have to take into account that its also all based on what your into.

Unless your into being a consumer whore. :P

Also, critics get paid to bash stuff. How many movies have you seen that critics hated but you loved? The critics loved but you thought was tripe? Same goes for games. Granted, I'll try to get an idea of the reviews, but generally I've already decided if I want to get it or not.

Sometimes I think that critics want to give a good game a bad review in order to stand out and make a name for themselves. I see this especially often with movies, where all the big name critics give a movie high marks and then some unknown critic rates it poorly, seemingly in an attempt to drawn attention to himself.

I mean high praise by my friends, not usually the reviewers. Though I do take their reviews into account before trying something (occasionally).

I mostly just try the games at my friends place, or a game they suggest I try, and sometimes I just go on a whim and rent whatever I can find and give it a shot.

And on FC2. I hated Far Cry 1 because it's gunplay was terrible. FC2s gunplay isn't that great, but it's better than FC1s.

Either way, they both freaking sucked.

How was the gunplay in FC1 terrible?

Enemies that can see you through shrubbery from 50 yards away while you're prone does not seem like a stellar gameplay decision when the game revolves around guerrilla warfare in the jungle.
DO NOT WANT.

I've never encountered this problem, at least not that I can recall...

EDIT: I just realized you were probably referring to the mutants. Yeah, FC would've been a much better game without them.
2009-01-08, 10:29 AM #105
Mutants were just the worst offenders. Many a time I would be instantly slaughtered by mercs 50 yards away (with AKs!) and facing away from me because I crawled too fast or something.
DO NOT WANT.

I've played through Farcry multiple times and have no idea what you're talking about.

I thought both Far Cry games were essentially 3D demos for whatever were the top graphics cards at the time. Silly Germanics.

Weird I've played through multiple times too and all I can ever remember is the frustratingly accurate enemy AI. :tinfoil:

Let's see, gun position was terrible, gun swaying was terrible, gun recoil was terrible, bullet fire was the worst and sniping was crap. Turning the mouse had a very sluggish feel to it.

Plus, as someone pointed out, you were spotted from 50 yards away no matter where you were.

It was just crap.

Far Cry 2 has the same problem with it's pistols, and when moving the mouse, it was the exact same as the first (probably due to Cryengine 1).

Eitherway, the game felt like a crappy console game ported to PC, even if it looked like a PC only title.

It doesn't always occur. The AI is often psychic about your position. Remember the part where you blow up the radar dish on the top of the mountain? After I did that, when reenforcements were inbound, I jumped into the surrounding hillside, went prone in the bushes and waited. A speedboat pulled up onto the coast, and as it was moving at full speed, fired a rocket that was aimed straight at my face. I must have been at least a half mile away, prone in the bushes, and this boat not only saw me, but fired a rocket exactly at my position.

Another fun problem was how the AI reacted to rocks. I often would throw rocks to have them literally shot out of the sky by AI that was normally not paying attention. That is, the NPCs are off doing their thing, and a rock flies up behind them and they INSTANTLY TURN AND BLOW IT AWAY AND NOW THEY KNOW MY EXACT POSITION EVEN THOUGH I AM NOT VISIBLE.

No, Far Cry's AI was horrible.

You've probably never actually played a "good" game then :P

The whole game felt sluggish and generic, more generic than generic actually.

And yeah, it was pretty much just a tech demo for the engine, the same as Crysis is. Sad really..
2009-01-08, 5:03 PM #113
wow if i hadn't read your guy's opinions on farcry 2, i would have ended up buying it, at a greatly reduced price, but i'll take your words for it and save my money! thanks :)

So... because I didn't encounter psychic AI (which Emon already said doesn't always happen) I've never played a good fps?
Care to make less sense somehow?

Theres a few of us.

I just find that games that appeal to me as a whole I enjoy. I find most of the glitches or whatever workable if I'm enjoying my overall game experience. When it comes to video games, if the little things are insignificant, I tend to not let them bother me. Generally, video/graphical issues piss me off more then gameplay issues.
