if i recall correctly, last time congress tried to push a resolution through condemning turkey for the Armenian genocide the U.S. was in the middle of trying to resolve a conflict between Turkey and some of the northern territories in Iraq. maybe congress should get their heads out of their arses before making nonbinding resolutions.

I have to say, though, that the recognition of the Armenian genocide by Turkey is more important politically than some people are making it out here. I won't deny that recognizing current geonocides is more pressing (the Kurdish situation comes to mind), but aside from that, the Turkish recognition of the Armenian Genocide is actually a big issue in the negotiations about Turkey being admitted to the EU. Several countries demand this move on Turkey's part because human rights issues are what's bothering the EU members about Turkey.

The problem with the Kurds is that there is also the PKK, a very militant Kurdish organization. The fact that they're making terrorist attacks is not helping the Kurdish cause.
