I can fit Windows 7 Ultimate on a 4Gb flash drive with room to spare...and a Vista backup needs four DVDs. Fail.

I realize this, but recovery CDs should be more sophisticated than a pure drive image.
woot!

Vista/7 has a toolkit specifically for turning an installed disk into a Windows Setup image for burning on a DVD or whatever.

protip

if you delete the original xp partition you also delete the bootmanager

any ideas on how i can fix this without a cd drive?

edit: f9 started system restore, canceled that and it fixed my boot sector somehow

i have 7 rc installed now. for a few days.

i've had vista for a year. a couple of crashes of apps but no blue screens.
18 hours of 7 rc and i've had one blue screen, several shut downs and bugs of weird kinds. i'll stick it out to see how it goes in the next week or so.
2009-05-11, 4:12 PM #93
wtf, I have not had a blue screen since 98.

Are we talking about the same Creative? Their drivers were terribly broken for me, unless you consider basic 2.0 stereo as "working". None of the extra features or anything else worked at all.

Luckily Daniel_K put out a new release of his hacked drivers which actually have some proper 5.1 functionality with stuff like CRSS2. It's still really buggy though.

Nvdia has special Windows 7 drivers just to note. By the way, is "game controllers" suppose to be missing from the control panel? I remember seeing it in the beta version, but now it's not in the RC control panel version any more.

Vista BSOD'd on my laptop on the...first or second day I had it? None yet with 7, that I can recall.
woot!

I thought the BSOD ended with 98. I've abused all OS's (with the exception of ME) since 98 and never had BSOD.
2009-05-11, 5:22 PM #98
I BSOD'd randomly in Vista on my tablet the other day. So yes, it still exists hahah.

I didn't even do anything. It was idling and then it BSOD'd. El oh el.

Other than that though, I haven't had one for like. A decade.
