I don't own neither can I run any of the games people tell me to mod. I'd probably mod for JK but its not that appealing as it was before, to me or most people for that matter.

Essentially this project can be considered "modding", since we are adding content to a game engine, not writing a new one. Consider it a TOTAL CONVERSION.

I never wanted a giant grand story, just something to know what were doing. Whether it be a comedy and massassi relevant only project (which only the members who have the longest time being here could write) or it be a generic meidaval story thats nothing more than a clone of every other generic meidaval mmo, save for one thing. Its ours, we made it, and what we want it to be.
Nothing to see here, move along.

Echoman, do you mean JEDIKNIGHT SOURCE

Jon'C I agree with you completley. I think that we don't have any defined idea, or any game design. That is why I want to hear ideas, and get inspired. Honestly I can't think of any original or appealing ideas.

The software isn't good. Graphicaly, you won't achieve better graphics than Jedi Knight (unless you try to use the DX9 version of this engine which isn't totally stable yet). The server is suitable for a small gaming community like ours, so thats ok.

If we are going to do this, we need to first of all see who can do what. As of yet I've seen only one volunteer and I don't what exactly he plans to contribute.

I can't distrubute labor unless I know who's in and what they can do. Once this is defined, we need to develop an idea that can be developed for the software and is within the collective abilities of the project team.

There really is no other course of action.
Nothing to see here, move along.

Yes there is, not doing it.

Oh yeah lets not do anything. Lets just keep posting youtube videos, or remaking the same threads we've been making for the past 4 years.

have you considered the possibility that some people are already doing things in addition to posting on massassi

I don't know about you but JK:Source is still underway. But we have to recover all the data after saberopus spilled his milkshake all over the computer files. I knew making backups on Etch-A-Sketch's wasn't the best idea.

Okay, well 49.5% of what I was saying was that this project shouldn't and won't happen, and the second 49.5% of what I was saying is that you are the absolute last person on this forum who should be starting or trying to lead a project.

I'm guessing you actually just agree with the remaining 1% then?

I thought JK:Source was abandoned. Speaking of which, what exactly do you want to achieve with JK:Source?

Whats the goal? The purpose? Remake JK?

Jon'C I could lead the project just fine, if there was a project to lead in the first place.

How about this, I BY MY SELF, will accomplish a certain part of the game. Consulting with these forums. I will do scripting and do all kinds of game mechanics and report back. I'll ask from time to time for some quick content (like a sword or a shield) to show an example of a desired effect or test something.

I will also be asking for ideas, guidance and critiscm. If anyone wants to hop on from now, well thats ok, but if you want to wait and see, thats ok too, but you should atleast provide ideas.

Right now, I just want to hear about possible story lines, then I'll get to work on that.
Nothing to see here, move along.

JK: Source is just a joke. It always has been a joke. It's very obvious. Someone would have to be pretty thick to actually believe that it's real because none of the people who crack the joke have any restraint or comedic timing or the ability to actually create something in the Source engine.

No you couldn't, because you don't even understand the principles behind what you're trying to accomplish. Leadership skills are not interchangeable. Not that I think you have any to begin with.

No you won't, because you don't know how to actually do anything. You don't even know where to begin. Why are you talking about accomplishing a 'certain part of the game' (to prove yourself) when you don't even have any clue what kind of game you're trying to make? Exactly what certain part of what game are you going to be producing here?

Consulting with these forums.
None of us have any patience left to help you. None of us have any experience with the engine you wasted money on. The few people on this forum intelligent enough to quickly learn what you're trying to do and offer assistance either don't care or they actively hate you.

I doubt it. What game mechanics, exactly, are you going to implement? Nobody has told you what kind of game you're supposed to be making yet.

Not gonna get anything.

Here's an idea: It's never going to happen.

Why don't you start by making a website? (i.e. This is going to go nowhere.)
2009-05-18, 1:30 PM #55
Here's the bottom line: If you start making something and it looks good, people will join you. But nobody's gonna get busy for some vague game some guy on the internet wants other people to make.

I hate how it feels like we're always trying to knock you down, but seriously. It's like going to the bank and asking for a business loan with this as your business plan: "Something neat that people will like and will make money."

Actually I finished it up a while ago. I mean, most of it was already done; I just had to make all the weapons and characters and levels. No big deal.

But I'm not going to release it because you spell my name wrong.

That is schweet, but I'm using it for this

not JK: Source.

I used Hammer or whatever the hl:2 editor is called now.

whatever "perspective" you're going for is hurting my brain.
2009-05-18, 8:20 PM #62
Dungeon perspective of the The Legend of Zelda and Links Awakening. Link to the Past is the same but with shorter walls IIRC, and I think with the oracles they switched to something sane.

Also, nice way to miss the joke about the guy who made a new Dark Forces engine and just insult me instead, mb.

Anyone have the shot of SF_Golds MMO, the one with the kid holding an untextured M16?

Oracle Series uses the same but w/ short walls as well I think

Tibby tibby, how many have to tell you to STFU?

Yeah zelda perspective causes brain hemorages. It makes even less sense because they all use a reasonable perspective in the overworld.

This perspective wouldn't look so odd if the cutouts along the walls maintained the same perspective, but instead, appear to just be flat.

All of the elements, actually, not just the cutouts. All of the things on the walls.
