That's what they SAY. That doesn't mean it's what WILL HAPPEN.

I found the 3rd episode to be more like normal SG1, but done much better.
I shall say no more due to spoilers, but seriously i'm loving this show so much already

I didn't enjoy the first 2 parts so much, but I enjoyed the 3rd, as Ruthy said, it was more like SG we know ... mission stuff.

I'm liking it so far, I particularly like that very few characters are immediately likable. It's not like Atlantis where characters are unintentionally unlikeable (Teyla). They've moved away from the idea that the central characters are all heroes (which I didn't mind, but maybe it's time for a change).

It's important to note that there's not going to be a "main" enemy like the Goauld or the Wraith.

Oh, that's an original idea (Voyager, Sliders).

What do you expect them to do? They cannot possibly have an original formula for every aspect of the show.

A TV show, just like any other artwork, does not have to be original to be good. It just has to be done right.

There's only one type of story anyway, according to (I think) Hemingway: boy becomes man.

1 - [wo]man vs. nature
2 - [wo]man vs. man
3 - [wo]man vs. the environment
4 - [wo]man vs. machines/technology
5 - [wo]man vs. the supernatural
6 - [wo]man vs. self
7 - [wo]man vs. god/religion

Right, but in all cases, the character develops and changes as a result: boy becomes man.

What about Flowers for Algernon? Boy becomes man becomes boy again!

Eh? Voyager had regular enemies. The Kazon were the first few seasons, the Borg were the last few seasons.

And I bet that there will be reoccuring badguys in Universe, just not to the level of the Goa'uld.
