TODOA (no caps)
2010-01-01, 12:55 PM #81
Well I think I'm screwed. The extraction process doesn't extract anything other that the TODOA "folder." On top of that, I can't extract anything to my Jedi Knight root directory (ANY folder, including the folders for the jkhub patch. I tried this in the Lucasarts root folder and still no luck. WTH)

When I try extracting to a folder outside of the lucasarts folders, I ONLY get the TODOA "Folder," not the other files in the zip. So... I give up.

I spent 5 minutes trying to open a door only to find out I can lightsaber it open? How was I supposed to know this with absolutely no prior indication that that was possible? Why did you put a pipe right where I need to jump?

You hear the troopers on the other side of the breakable door say "He's not going to come through, is he?" And as for the pipe, you just break it. Fairly simple things to do if you've ever played a video game before.

I basically came to the conclusion that I should try another extractor, and I downloaded the winrar trial. Got it working. I'm on level 2, FGR this is frickin sweet.

7zip is your friend. It's free.

7Zip is the one that wasn't working properly.

Although maybe I should have tried re-installing it or something.

That was awesome. If only you'd released it twelve years ago...

I found the secret earlier on top of the platform with the mandalorian, so I just fired a blaster @ the door and presto!

Okay, not that I'm past the puzzles this is back to awesome.
The soundtrack is fantastic, where's it all from?

:omg:.........this was all I could say after coming back to reality. I experienced the same feeling I got when I sat down for the first time when I saw Episode IV when I was a child. I successfully downloaded all contents of your files and correctly placed the files in the directory. This was more awe inspiring than I have anticipated. I played a short part of the first level and was just totally blown away. Time to get back to your game, I'll work on my pathetic project some other time.:psylon: :omg: "doctor I think Darth Dan is Breathing, does he have a pulse?" "wait" said the doctor "he's saying something"

I haven't been around Massassi much for the last couple of years, but I've been keeping up with the level contest entries and this project deserves mention:

Absolutely phenomenal work, FastGamerr! I'm on the second level right now, but savoring the experience, so I'm giving it a break for tonight. But everything I've seen so far is remarkably impressive. The cut-scenes, new models, sounds and voice-overs (yes, particularly the sound, it's all very crisp and professional sounding for JK) are top-notch, not to mention the wonderful level design and architecture. It is always a joy to play as Darth Vader in a computer game, although so rarely do you get to play him with a concussion rifle as well as a lightsaber! :neckbeard:

Kudos to you for actually releasing something of this magnitude, it blows my mind to think of how much work it must have taken. I would say "happy editing," but I think your "Swan Song" is a pretty golden note to end on, at least as far as Jedi Knight is concerned. Thanks for sharing!

Hey, what do you do if after patching JK.exe you get the old 'not a valid win32 application' error?

Stuck trying to get the catwalk down..

EDIT: oh boy nevermind. This is why you shouldn't play games at 5:30 am.

Did you compose the music yourself FGR? I really like it.

Intro has MIDI adapted from TIE Fighter by myself, 'Suffocation' and 'Drowning' have tremendously great remakes of Doom tracks by Per Kristian Risvik.

Thanks for the comments, guys!

I'm impressed with your work. I'm on the second level so far but I can see why this took so long to make. In particular I love the cutscenes and all the new sound design work (did you make the sound effects?). I've made a few glitches but that doesn't matter and JK's gunplay is pretty dated but that isn't your fault. Well done I say! Cheerio.

I'm also getting garbled text.

Having issues with the script displaying extremely weird. I will try to post an in-game shot later.
2010-01-02, 5:42 AM #108
Do you get the garbled text only after loading a savegame? MrRavenX also reported of the problem during similar circumstances in beta testing.

That's the one.

Also, I seem to have lost all my force powers. I'm at the part in level 2 with the fallen down catwalk but use Q or the hotkeys to get force powers working.

Yup, same thing happened to me. In short, play TODOA completely through in one sitting if you want to avoid these bugs. It's only if you quit the game and reload that problems start to happen.

Blame it on JK's crappy save feature.
Lyrics are highly overrated.
2010-01-02, 12:05 PM #111
Also getting some garbled text and lost force powers at that same moment @ the weird catwalk after loading a savegame.

I've had the savegmae problem with JK savegames for ages, even though I remember getting it in MotS more often. I sort of remember someone making a fix for the issue that involved saving a dump file from the inventory somehow.. :\

I also noticed, speaking of audio issues, that whenever one has the lightsaber on for a cutscene, the noise will stay on for the rest of the level regardless of what weapon you use.

There is a room with a wrench behind some boxes, take it and backtrack to a room with a red cylinder in the corner, press use.
FGR, stick to level design not puzzle design.
