Level 3 (The underwater train) worked the first time, then I quit and every time I load it back up it crashes.

I remember when JK levels worked flawlessly, and then FGR had to go and push the engine beyond it's limits.

Similar level crashes also occured in 'Mechanics of the Force' and 'Life of a Merchant II', but at least the game doesn't crash every time you die/load a savegame like it did with TODOA 2008.

I guess the music and other bugs could have been fixed by a professional cogger, interesting how some people get bugs that nobody else has reported thus far (landfish got the force fields in 'Suffocation' to get messed up big time). But yeah, it makes you wonder how jolly the SG-1 mod might have been to play.

But anyhow I'd still like to know what part/level people liked the best. ^_^

If it makes you feel better Magrucko 2 suffers from the same garbled text after quitting and reloading problem.

Definitely a JK issue and not a mod issue.
Lyrics are highly overrated.

God, between this and Magrucko it's like a renaissance.

well despite the forcefield fiasco, TODOA is the pinnacle of JK :colbert:

I'm sorry everybody, but I don't see any zip files or GOBs that came along with the download of TODOA. I downloaded it, and I only got a RAR file. No folder, no GOBs, no Readme, just the file and the instructions on the site to rely on the latest patch. I don't know how to run RAR files, and I wish that more specific instructions were given to explain how to run the game, rather than assume that many of the players would no instantly what to do. Are there other programs that were supposed to come with the RAR file that didn't make the download, is the download not meant to result in a RAR file, or there steps to running RAR files in the JK folder that I'm not aware of? As I said, a specific Readme would be a lot more helpful than just a RAR file or limited instructions.

A rar file is a zip file (they're both archives). Try downloading winrar to extract it.

What Tracer said. You'll need to download 7Zip or WinRAR to extract it (it's a more advanced archive type, like ZIP, but not compatible with ZIP).
2010-01-06, 10:26 AM #132
It is not unreasonable to assume people know what to do with a rar.
2010-01-06, 10:56 AM #133
On the contrary, JM. I have learned after a lot of personal experience that WinRAR does not seem to be used a lot outside of the geek-world. I have RARed things up to family members and friends on countless occasions with many of them asking what to do with the file. Obviously to most people who have downloaded things on the internet before, the RAR is the best choice and very familiar, but to people not as tech-savy, it's not really as well known, at least from my experiences.

7zip is the best extraction tool anyway.

Downloading custom levels for a 12 year old pc game is well within the geek-world.

The time it took you to write this, you could have googled RAR file, and downloaded the appropriate app, just sayin :p

although it may be about me, i kinda can't yet. something about computers and dying and everything i need to fix them or replace parts being available next week...

so until then, i once again congratulate landfish on forcing FGR's hand in releasing this possible masterpiece. without him, none of this would be taken forcefully from FGR's cold, Finnish, hands.

for those wondering, my laptop's OS died, can't get to repair discs till sunday, using ChromeOS til then, and graphics card on desktop died as well

Just played a bit of this, finally, and wow very impressive. When I tried to save my game it crashed, but when I have more time I'll try to play through it.

can't play this because the unofficial patch makes my steam-bought version of JK not work. :(
DO NOT WANT.
2010-01-07, 9:57 PM #145
So get another copy then.
2010-01-07, 10:29 PM #146
my point being that i can only play levels that don't require the use of that patch. I backed up my copy of JK.exe so it works just fine. it's just patch-less.
DO NOT WANT.
2010-01-07, 10:33 PM #147
So just pirate a copy to play TODOA on, it's worth it.
