Hey has anyone had this kinda problem with vice city before.

Whenever I try to load the game, after it's done loading, an error pops up saying,
"Unhandled exception: c0000005....." And then shuts down vce city.

I think that mean's it's corrupt. So, does anyone know how to fix this or uncorrupt it without losing the saved game?

Uhh...most of those games either have multiplayer, or they have levels and endbosses that make the game different and continuosly entertaining. But the games that are just one big city, and you just take missions and kill stuff, those get boring. Spider-Man 2 was a great game, because you could stay in the city and do missions, which got boring, but it also had levels, and endbosses, and you got to see a change of scenery every now and then.

If you had played Vice City for more than 5 minutes, you'd know that there were some boss characters in the game.

I beat both GTAIII and GTA VC games. Those can hardly be considered bosses.

Anyway, SAJN, there was variation. Like the bank robbery. And ramming that person's car. You're just wrong, that's all.

wow, I read a prewiew on GTASA and it looks kick *** .

You start out in your own neiborhood and you can buy cloths from the store there, if you do, your gang and the town folks will respect you more, if you wear your gang colors, the gang will have more respect, but other gangs will be able to spot you and might shoot at you if your on unfriendly terms, cops will also take more notice of you.

the weaight thing, you have a little stamina bar thingy and as the day goes on it goes down, you actuially have to watch the diet too, the character can eat alot of junk food or things that are really fatty and get super fat, meaning he runs slower, moves slower and has to stop and catch his breath every so often. the character can even eat so much that he can throw up, and if he does, he looses all the energy he just gained.

you can apparently rob houses and other stuff, recruit up to 3 other gang members to help you on missions (might be more... donno) and i think they may actually be able to come with you on ALL missions.

You can get haircuts and change your cloths, if you have the right look you will be more respected and the girls will be all over you and guys will fear you, even cops or rival gang members may not come too close.

if you eat to much, and get fat you will be made fun of by people on the streets, in your gang and other gangs and so on...

YOU CAN SWIM, YEAH. no matter what, if he's in water he'll tread water, and you can do a little breaststroke, or kick your feet while doping a bnreast stroke and thus drain your stamina faster. If you drive a car into the water, if your fast enough you can bail out before you drown.

like ya said, San Andreas is the name of the STATE, not the single city... and there is going to be three seperate cities, similar to Vegas, Los Angles and San Fransico with the highway inbetween.

Although with the highway, they may not make it one long massive highway system, you might drive down the highway a little ways and then it'll load the next city, kinda like the diffrent districts of GTA3.

anywho thats just a litte of the info i've picked up, hope that clears some of the others up on what the game will be like and i know i repeated some things already said...

Can you change clothes to a different gang colour, and bump up your respect with that gang?

From what I've read, they want to make the highway system one long, unbroken drive. They said they MAY have to implenment short load times (ala Vice City), but they do not want to make different sections like GTA3. If newer info is out, however, I'd love to see it. I'm in love with this game already [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Am I really the only one who thinks this whole balanced diet feature thing is a little too...I don't know, deep?

I mean for one thing, most gamers don't eat healthy and excercise regularily in real life, what makes having to do it to succeed in a video game so awesome?

Really, what's next? "Breathe in" and "breathe out" buttons? Having to sleep half of each in-game day for full stamina and concentration?

I don't know...I guess I just don't get it.
2004-08-31, 1:08 PM #57
They're trying to add an RPG element to it, so that players feel more of an attachment to the character.

however, there should be a feature to turn character maintenance off just for players that want to play in simplified GTA3 or Vice city style.... To balance the game, certain features could be made unavailable in such a simplifed mode, so theres a little trade-off for playing it in old-school GTA3 style.

I'm glad they finally added swimming-- it seemed insulting that tough badass guys like Tommy vercetti or the guy from GTA3 can't survive getting their feet wet.

I hope for GTA4 they go for a completely new engine, and a completely new look. Perhaps something that isn't trying to look as "real".

I believe they're using the same renderware engine. Except, it's upgraded. Alot of console games use the renderware engine (Spider-man 2 is one of them).

ah yes, the infamous GTA3 motion trails. You can turn those off, i believe that they are off by default in VC.

I never really understood the purpose of having trails in gta3's PC port. All they do is make the game look like s***.

When I made those 70's comments, I was speaking stylistically. You have a lone gunman in a leather jacket, stealing hot vehicles and getting brief cutscenes overlaid with jazzy music.

-May have been a little too vague at the time.

It's our All-American product. We got the idea from the Germans. The French hate it. It goes for half in Canada. The English have a version, but it's not so hot. There's cheap knockoffs in India. The Japanese are devolping a sleeker, sexier model. Made in China.

Oh man, this brings up something I hated about GTA3 and Vice City. Dissapearing cars.

In GTA2, you could shoot up a passing car and it'd catch flame. An hour later, you could come across that same car, on fire.
In the GTA3 games, it seems like the whole world is drawn around you. You see a cool car and hijack a taxi to go after it. That car passes a corner, you follow it, and then...it's gone.
Similarly, if you just turn around you can 'spawn' new cars until you see one you want.
And it made placing car bombs incredibly difficult as the cars would dissapear if you didn't look at them for long.

This made me weep.

I've noticed alot of ties between III and Vice city.

Such as in GTA III, on the Chatterbox radio station, the guy says something like, "Hey it's me Lazlo cause I got kicked off the rock station."

And in vice city, Lazlo is the host of VRock.

Little things like that.

Damn right. I always have trouble with the first Kaufman Cabs mission (V.I.P.) b/c the damn cab I'm chasing disappears if I get too far behind. I think its a glitch in the game. Mission-critical cars should not disappear like that.

I remember the second time I tried the mission in VC where you had to race Hillary (the nerdy insecure guy. I think I might have gotten the name wrong :/) anyway, I had a 3 star wanted rating when I activated the mission. We're sitting at the start line, cutscene goes by, countdown starts, and as the countdown is going down this one cop car just comes shooting down at us, only he's in Hillary's lane, and careens right into him, sending the car flying. It was so hilarious, I actually failed the mission because I was laughing so hard that I didn't realize a cop had arrested me [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

Uh, there is going to have to be loading between cities, if they are as large as it seems they are...
There's no way they could program the game so it all loads into the memory at once. Well, on the PC perhaps, loading onto the HD or something, but there's no way the PS2 could handle that.
Unless they're cutting corners again, with the whole "load city around player" crap, where really the 'entire city' is only a radius of 5 metres at a time. Really, I would love a full on loading screen if it meant I could have a thoroughly fleshed out city and vehicles and textures and AI and everything.

I'm really beginning to hate console ports. Deus Ex 2 awful. I got Manhunt today, and I agree that the control system is really good (apart from with the nailgun, the shooting system is horrible. I really hate "lock on" type systems), but the console limitations really pulled it down. It could have had so much potential if it was programmed directly for PC.

I wish developers would make for PC first, and then slice and dice to cut it down to PS2 afterwards.
