Anyone who plays L4D2 and wants to experience a little Jedi Knight Nostalgia should try Survive Canyon Oasis



It's a Survivor Map based off Canyon Oasis.
(The tradition of Canyon Oasis knockoffs continues!!!)

Obviously there had to be some changes to make it fit L4D2 gameplay so if your expecting a pure level port you will probably be disappointed.

I'm hoping to convince him to make a 'Valley of the Jedi' port next.

There are just some things that should never be done. This was one of them.

And no, they are not from the JO df2 mod. He might have gotten them off that website, but most of those are just the original JK textures scaled up [STILL ILLEGAL] and I see several of those in his screenshots.

Yeah Lucasarts is really going to sue SithLord...
That said, I can understand CM not wanting it on here.

Pretty sure the textures both of them are using are taken from the High-Res texture pack on Jkhub.net

I don't get it. You can do terrains easily in Hammer, so why the blocky landscape?

Let them know that I released a hi-res version of that pillar texture that they can use to replace the JK one found in that screenshot.

Yeah a while back. Looked great but didn't work well in game-play.

I could probably try again using newer tactics that I've learned, would probably make the map much nicer.

I do have a Haven map though.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but hopefully people are actaully trying the level and not making evaluations based on screenshots or Beefy's reputation in the Jedi Knight editing community.

I've tried to give you constructive criticism before. A lot of people have. You never listen. You insist on the same awful visual styles again and again.

I think it's neat that you made CO for L4D, I just think it looks horrific.

Heaven forbid everyone not suddenly fall to their knees in praise for a level that honestly looks no better than it did in JK. That's all Jon even said about it, was that it did nothing to take advantage of the game engine you put it into.

I know how the people of this forum are, I was here when it all started. It took about 4 years of experience to reach an opinion of the majority of Massassi. Their criticism is meaningless to me, and has been since the late 90s. I can handle criticism from intelligent, goodhearted people, but I take whatever is said here as a joke 99% of the time. When all this place strives for is how real something looks, constantly trash talking someone's style, it leaves little to respect. I don't give a damn about how I don't use the engine to its fullest capability. Just leave it to a Massassian to look passed the main objective, and focus on what they think the level should be like. Earth to Massassi, we aren't all a bunch of basement dwelling douche bags the share the exact same taste!

The idea was to keep it as close to the original Oasis as possible while still being playable in L4D2. If I thought like a Massassian, I would spend 2 years perfecting every little edge and corner, curving every angle, and the release it when the game is dead... only to be played by a couple of idiots on a dead website.

Just so some of you understand, I am not talking about ALL Massassians. Just the ones that started this trend of empty headed uniformed pussy crap talking morons such as EMON! Perfect example of a 1 dimensional polygon headed Massassian. What the **** was I talking about again?
