I'm surprised no one has pointed out (in this thread) yet that the whole reason we don't see games of that quality for local multiplayer is because there isn't as much money in it. Instead of selling 4 consoles, 4 games, and 4 internet connection/subscriptions... they would only sell one console, one game, and four controllers.

Nothing in this world is about quality, its only about money.

Theres still one company focusing on local multiplayer, in fact, despite adding online functions to some of their games they seem just as focused on local now as they were then.
They call themselves "Nintendo"

You know, I've considered that. But I think there's two reasons for that. One, nintendo is horrible at network gaming, look at the Wii online games... horrible setup. Secondly, they know the Wii is a kids console for the majority, and kids usually don't play online. Sure there's the hoard of Halo kids... and COD kids... but aside from that, the nintendo group is less inclined to that.

Yeah I mean children. Most kids under 13 aren't lucky enough to get a $400 console, games, controllers ect. Even less under 10.

While kids that age may be insanely apt at using the internet, they probably shouldn't spend time in servers with insecure teens who use the F word with every exhale.

Available for download now on Live, BtW. Looks like the trial is the first level of the game. I just messed with it long enough to see what it felt like. Pretty much exactly like the original but I'm sure the length of time since I've last played has allowed me to lose appreciation for how much better the dual analog must be.

I'm going to download it tonight. Anyone up for a game tonight or this weekend?

****, this game is going to cost me a cool $60.

Need to buy a gold subscription. ;_;

Does it support local 4 player split screen?

I have to assume by the game details in the green section here that it does, just like the N64 release.

I can't freaking wait to get home from a trip I'm currently on. First thing I do when I get home and get on my XBOX is download Perfect Dark. I'm even going to download the trial just because I like downloading the trials of games that I consider must haves. I've even purchased a game, then downloaded the demo after the fact, just to see what (if anything) they changed from the demo to the game itself (Arkham Asylum is the best demo that I have ever played, especially when compared to the game itself.)

This was my second favorite game back when it came out. The nostalgia alone is enough for me to get this. I loved just playing the multi-player alone with several bots and improving my ranking. Now, with online play being added, it will be totally killer. Plus I cant wait to play some of the GE levels and weapons again. Now if Nintendo and MS can just come up with an agreement for Goldeneye 007. I don't care which console gets it, as long as one of them does.

I just hope I can round up my cousins to play with them again.

Yeah but aren't Arcade demos just the full game gimped?

FCTuner04, that's really weird dude.
And Batman's demo is good, but is (naturally) but a hollow shell of the full game, the full game is much better than the demo, but then that's how it works like 99% of the time.

Usually they are. In fact, i believe it's the same download, just there's a certain 'flag' that tells the game if it's supposed to only launch the demo portion of the game, or the whole thing.

And yeah, I know it's weird. But like I said, it's fun for me to see what they decided to put in the demo to help try to sell the game. Sometimes it's a complete failure, IMO Other times the tactics seem pretty good. Like Banjo Kazooie, it stops after you get your third puzzle piece I believe, which, if you liked the parts leading up to it, can be a good cliffhanger. I usually only do it with games I really loved.

A quick note - in the very first level, don't turn off the lights in the ventilation room.

I don't think it's weird. Many demos contain content different from the release. It's just with regards to Arcade titles I don't think there is a demo per se. It's the same download just locked or unlocked.

BTW, anyone suffering from input lag in coop/counter-op mode over Live, try enabling split screen.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

Uh, that depends on what the developer does, not whether it's an arcade title or not.
2010-03-19, 5:29 AM #109
Well, I can't claim to know what each Arcade title does, it's just seems that every trial version I've downloaded is the same download as the full game just locked. Purchasing the game requires no additional download. I don't even know if you could download a trial version of an Arcade title you've purchased or, if you can, if it wouldn't simply overwrite and play as the full version anyway.

I forgot how hard it is to aim in this game. The sticks are way sensitive, even with the settings all the way down.
2010-03-19, 7:01 PM #112
The autoaim is ridiculous, though.
2010-03-19, 9:25 PM #113
Of course it is, that's how it was in the original game ;)

By design, XBLA games must have a trial option. This trial option is simply a function in the code of the game that tells the developer that their game is not bought yet, and gives the developer the option to implement whatever form of "trial mode" they want. All of the content of the game is downloaded, as this makes numerous things easier (developers don't need to worry about assets missing, consumers can keep playing where they left off if they decide to buy, etc).
2010-03-20, 5:53 AM #116
That's what I figured but since I didn't know the specifics of the matter I decided not to claim there was always no difference between the trial and "full" version (even though I, seemingly correctly, assumed that was the case).

Holy ****.

I just ran out of ammo on the final boss, with him down to one shard thing. Then pistol whipped a mini-skedar to death, got 12 shots for the falcon 2, and used it to beat the boss.
