I made my 500th thread yesterday.
2010-03-16, 12:05 PM #41
I've made 158 threads. About a quarter of them were crap on the secret forums , a quarter got locked or resulted in me or spe being banned, a quarter were adventure stories, and only the last quarter were legitimate.

Thank you dalf. You are consistently my favorite admin. Bout time someone use their power to make this place marginally better

If mb didn't spend his entire life eating donuts and murdering hipsters in Brooklyn maybe some more **** would get done around here.

I'm okay with mb murdering hipsters instead of making Massassi a better place.

Maybe I just have a higher tolerance, since I mod a big forum where "annoying users" are the ones who make scores of mind-bogglingly stupid posts every single day.

I'm not saying Tibby's the best poster ever to exist or that he's not seeking attention, the reaction just seems disproportionate. Maybe I don't hang out on Massassi enough to get annoyed by it.

Tibby made a thread poking fun at himself and people didn't like it.
So let's block him from making threads, that sure does sound fair!
Bonus- No warning or probation.

sounds good to me

I liked it.

And anyway, this forum is dead as it is, and people are complaining someone is making too many threads? I always come to this forum and wish there were more.

Also I can't use the PM feature because it now only holds 20 messages, I have 65 somewhere that I can't find of get rid of.
Gee, sure is Something Awful around here.

What Thrawn said, and what Freelancer said about wanting more threads.

Also, I've made 214 threads apparently.

I have. I've found it useful for when I don't have access to their IM/Facebook/whatever.

1. It's the internet. You don't get rules here. If the admins want to do something, they can do it. Everything is up to the discretion of the admins.

2. You could say that it was a thread poking fun at yourself. Or another way you can look at it is yet another useless thread because it doesn't offer anything, other than reinforcing the fact that you create stupid threads all the time (like this one). Wasn't a youtube video. Wasn't a news link. Wasn't a story. Was "HAI GUYS! I've posted way too many times, here's examples of my really ****ty posts!", AKA stuff we've ALREADY SEEN.

You can do whatever you want, I agree. That doesn't mean I can't complain and argue when you do something stupid, without reason, and without warning.
This is Massassi, as far as I knew there was a much more lax posting policy then other places, due to the low member count and general age of the community.
But JG feels like a big tough manly man emulating the SA mods, so good on him.
2010-03-16, 7:34 PM #63
I love this situation. You make a thread talking about how many threads you've made, which is staggeringly more than almost everyone else here, though you've been here less than half the time of some of the longest standing members. Then, you're pissed off when you lose your thread posting ability after pointing out the fact that you've posted over 100 threads a year on average.

To me that's hilarious in its irony.

2010-03-16, 7:37 PM #64
Don't think I don't see that, it really is.
I guess in the end, I just over-estimated peoples ability to take a joke, had a not posted this I probably could have never even known JG hated me so much.
2010-03-16, 7:43 PM #65
And now to make the thread even MORE ironic:

2010-03-16, 7:43 PM #66
You have posted 100 threads a year on average. You pointed this out to everyone. That is extremely excessive. You post about 5 times as many threads as anyone else. And nearly all of them are completely useless.

It's not that Dalf hates you, which I don't think he does. Dalf doesn't seem like the type to make personal judgments like that. It's that you have posted an excessive amount of threads, so you can't anymore.

If you go around breaking the law you don't get arrested because the police have something against you. You get arrested so you can't do those things anymore.

Alright well, convince me.
Name a single thread I have made in the last... say 3 months that has been locked. If you can I'll accept this and move on. Hell name one where at least 50% of the posts are akin to "This thread sucks".

I AM BIG TOUGH INTERNET MANLY MAN! WATCH HOW I e-GRUNT AND e-SCRATCH MY BALLS

Tibby, you are not helping your cause here. Instead of realizing that perhaps you DO post an inordinate amount of threads that have little value, you throw a conniption fit. Oh I can "emulate SA" as you say right now and ban your ass for mod-sass for a while. But I'm not gonna do that. It won't serve anything. I could have banned you for this thread and the threads you made. But it wouldn't serve anything. You'd be crap-posting as soon as you returned.

Don't think I'm singling you out. If I see other thread-posting abuses, I'll take that priviledge away from them. I encourage the other admins to do so as well. Like I said, I don't mind the occasional "junk" thread. Just you took it to excess.

Decision still stands.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

This is not the kind of behavior that gets something like this lifted. Having a fit and telling Dalf how full of **** he is will not help you.

To be honest I think dalf is full of ****. You should probably go back to a weekly thread quota or something like that.

I overreacted, yes.
So did you.
I'm willing to deal with this, it's not that bad in the long run. I am however, not willing to overlook the fact that it's complete crap.
2010-03-16, 8:44 PM #72
He did not overreact. If he did, it's your own fault for pointing out to the admins, and the entire community, that many of your posts are flat out stupid and never should've existed in the first place, or existed clearly to somehow grab attention. You are like a criminal who has a sudden realization and decides to turn himself in to the police, gives them all the evidence to throw you in the slammer, but yet hopes that he doesn't get arrested because you turned yourself in.

It's really quite simple. Just. Stop. Posting. Stupid. Threads. Is it really that hard not to click the "Submit" button? And someone your age should know by now what can constitute as a "good" post. If you stop posting stupid threads, then it won't be a problem. That should really be the end of discussion. You can think on your own time about whether what happened was fair or not or whether JG over-reacted. It doesn't affect anybody else except you, so deal with it on your OWN time.

I don't post stupid threads, all of those are from the distant past.
I agree, this should be the end of the discussion, I'm making a fool of myself and I'm smart enough to see that. Moving on.
2010-03-16, 9:03 PM #74
Your threads as of late have generally caused discussion to take place, and in that regard they are good. The discussions which take place are retarded, though. Why does society view masturbation with such disdain? Why is windows so expensive? etc...

I just thought of something, why is this a problem.
Granted, I can see why dumb threads would annoy someone if they had to read them, and I suppose JG does on account of being an admin. But isn't this site pretty slow usually? Doesn't it just create opportunity for discussion?
2010-03-16, 9:23 PM #76
It's woefully discouraging to open a thread and find out that it's complete garbage. I guess it annoys some people more than others.

To your credit, I think this is your best thread to date.
