You seem to think that the term African-American only applies or should only apply to those blacks that were born in Africa. I'm fairly certain that it has more to do w/ the origins of their "race". A friend of mine was born & raised in South Africa yet she's still considered to be a Caucasian. That's because she's considered to be a member of the Caucasoid race.

Maybe his confusion stems from the fact that people blindly apply the term African American even to blacks who are not African at all.

Plus if all blacks are African Americans, what do you call black people that aren't American?

All blacks originate from Africa. Actually, all signs seem to indicate that all people originate from Africa.

Since this is now a debate about the label African-American :

I know a few African Americans. One of them is white. They don't like people who don't have African citizenship calling themselves African. They have dual citizenship; most 'African Americans' are just 'Americans'.

There's a reason I don't go around calling myself Italian American.

Re video of dumb people : There are stupid people everywhere. The percentage of stupid people in this country is no higher than any other. It's just an easy way for them to make fun of the big dog without putting any effort into it.

Here are fallacies illustrated in that video : The assumption that if some are stupid, all are stupid. The assumption that we SHOULD know details of the history of other countries. And, they edit out the correct answers.

I think that the video is meant to be humorous & that everyone is taking it way too seriously. It was created as a joke & it was posted by me as a joke. I think that all reasonable people can agree that there are stupid people in every country & that if you randomly interview people on the street in any country, you're likely to run across quite a few idiots. There ARE a lot of stupid people out there & many of them walk in public.

Furthermore, all people descend from blacks that originated in Africa. Actually I'm not sure what color the first humans were. Since they originated in Africa, I'd wager a guess that as they evolved, their skin slowly darkened as they lost body hair.

The debate about why skin color, hair color etc is what it is... well it's more or less a giant waste of time. There's no real way to know whether people started off dark or ended up that way later... why some areas of the world have people who still have a great deal more body hair than other people and so forth.

And seeing as Africa isn't a country...
