TBH, we last longer than we expected. I was expecting USA to be gone already.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

Uh, what? We were clearly one of the two best teams in our group. It would have been a complete embarrassment if we hadn't advanced.

As for today, Ghana showed up and we didn't, and I give full credit to them for outplaying us. We have absolutely nothing to be proud of today.
If you think the waiters are rude, you should see the manager.

This tournament is differentiating itself from others in recent memory in that several of the seeded teams have suffered at the hands of the "lower" teams who've played out of their skins. It's hard to accept at the time, but the US have made a very good name for themselves this time around. I think come 2014 the English won't look at a group draw with the US and think "easy group".

Not that they should have done in the first place - you being only 4 points behind us in the world rankings.

I thought this was a great picture from the Uruguay - South-Korea game:

Why was Steven playing?
nope.

Suarez is awesome
2010-06-27, 6:45 AM #168
Asamoah Gyan's final goal was awesome. There's no denying it. However, I must admit that I was disappointed w/ the referees not calling anything for more than half the game as Ghana was literally kicking the **** out of the USA players. I've never watched football much before this but it appears to me that if you want to win you can easily increase your chances by physically abusing the other team. I was absolutely shocked when the referee finally started penalizing Ghana's players well in to the 2nd half but unfortunately that was after they physically beat the **** out of the USA players to prevent them from scoring (there were several good attempts).

What exactly is the purpose of not reviewing the video when you're not 100% sure about something? This has always irked me w/ most sports. I can understand that it adds more time to an already long ****ing game but it seems to me that they could at least do it in major events (e.g: world cups).

I watched an Italian game the other day & these guys can out-act Meryl Streep. I think they should give Hollywood a shot.
? :)

I was kind of confused by the werid penalty calling in the USA Ghana game as well. It really boggled me when the USA players would do the same stuff and get a yellow card, but when the Ghana dudes did it play just went on like "oh well you just tripped that guy" or "eh... he deserved to be kicked in the nuts"

I don't really know soccer all that well, so maybe I'm just unclear as to what deserves a penalty. I'm sure it's something small, similar to the way good blocking and holding can look very similar to an outside observer in american football.

Uruguay knocks out Ghana. A cheap, yet very smart sacrifice by Suarez.

I was happy to see Brazil lose. They were physically elbowing & kicking people on purpose. It was also nice to see Ghana get a taste of their own medicine after that full contact karate match they had w/ the U.S..
? :)

This.

Also, what drama with the penalty kicks awarded to both teams (and twice to Spain)! It's like a bad sports drama flick, but it's real so it's actually exciting!
