I can't speak for other Martial Arts but I know for a fact, Tae Kwon Do heavily involves Patterns and stretching by repeated kick practice among other stretches for a LOT of the training. The rest comes with the training (timing, discipline, the ability to fight comes with sparring practice, etc) throughout the years. When I used to go into competitions in Toronto to fight there was no special preparation done, no special techniques used, and no different training than any of the other students was practiced. Somehow with all that lack of a proper teaching method I guess, I managed to win a few of those tournaments. Meh
