A mosque at ground zero? Really??

This thread sucks.
The building design sucks.
You suck for even thinking of replying to this.
You suck even more for actually replying.

Maybe this will teach all the evangelical bigots in America to grow up. Build it I say. It's one more step towards breaking down religious blockades and cultural stereotypes. If anyone is opposed to this because they think it insults the people who died in 9/11, I strongly disagree with you.
Think while it's still legal.

Nope! And when one of them finally goes crazy, straps on a bomb and blows up the Mosque, the American media will spend an entire month talking about the young bomber's tragic, Footloose-like childhood.

This is why planes were flown into our buildings in the first place. "Religious freedom and economic stability for all Christians and religious moderates!" Besides, they don't want to put it ON ground zero, it's blocks away from what I read. I think the mosque should be directly on ground zero as a symbol of peace and good will. A group of radical terrorists attacked America, not Islam.

Fox News will call them an American Hero.

Secularists? In which alternate reality do you live? Atheists are distrusted more by Americans than any other demographic, including Muslims and homosexuals.
2010-07-14, 8:03 AM #89
I guess what I'm saying is that you should be happy atheists aren't all the same color.
2010-07-14, 8:09 AM #90
That would be such a big problem around here. ESPECIALLY if that color was black.

Pretty close to pedophiles as well if I'm not mistaken.
? :)

I didn't properly understand the word secularist. A better word would've been religious moderates.

But yeah, I avoid using the word "atheist" when I am casually asked about my beliefs. "Rationalist" is what I say now, but most combative people will simply say "So you don't believe in God?"

Pedophiles is right too, why are people afraid you want to tell their kids about a lack of God? Unless they were worried it were true... Put it this way, I don't plan on panicking if my kid goes to church, or a mosque for that matter.

Big effing deal, they can put a mosque where they want. I wish people would stop whining. Nobody has the right to not be offended.

But what you said isn't why they did it?

The fringe that does this **** does not want equality. They want dominance. No amount of fairness will assuage them; the only thing that will satisfy them is our deaths. Thankfully, it's not the fringe that this mosque is sending a message to. This does not say, Hey Fringe; here is a tiny thing please stop hating us. It says, Hey all you that aren't the Fringe; we don't think you're evil like them. In fact, we kind of like you even if you wear sandals places you shouldn't.

Sandals are fine, so long as there are no socks.

I'm an evangelical and don't care if it's built.

I don't really think they should build any buildings at Ground Zero.

I hope this doesn't sound too craven or cynical, but that property is simply too economically valuable to not get re-used. Lower Manhattan land is a finite and in-demand resource. Besides, as much as I appreciate monuments and preserving history, there is something to be said for picking up the pieces and respectfully soldering on. That site shouldn't be a graveyard--it can become a living, working testament to New York and its people.
2010-07-14, 4:28 PM #102
So you're saying we should wire up electronics on the site.

I think I agree with wuss on this one. Yeah, build a memorial by all means, but don't just leave it a graveyard.

The perpetrators of the 9/11 attacks are said to have eaten at a McDonald's the night before the attack. Some say that's what put them over the edge.

Why do the heathens rage behind the firehouse?
2010-07-14, 10:47 PM #109
In that case they also need to make sure no strip clubs are erected near the site.

Okay, don't build it at 'ground zero'.

Oh, you already aren't?

Idiots.

On the other hand, the guy in charge of the group building it is also a douche for other reasons.

I'm pretty sure I don't live under a rock, but Massassi is honestly the only place I've heard about this. The boat at ground zero is getting more attention.

That's partly because CBS (And other networks?) have refused to air that anti-mosque add.
2010-07-16, 7:59 AM #115
Oh well thats good! Also I should note that the part of the city the mosque is going to be isn't a high traffic area for tourists... or even regular people. It's the financial district... AND SUITS SUCK AMIRITE
