katy perry on sesame st.

Apparently sesame street filmed a segment with katy perry and elmo singing "hot n cold", but it got pulled after complaints from concerned parents.

lets just say elmo is not the only thing bouncing around in this video :awesome:

There are only about 5 seconds where any "bouncing" takes place, and that's only barely. I'd say they did a fantastic job of keeping her ample assets in place.

I really don't understand what the problem would have been with this. She's really not wearing anything revealing, as I can remember seeing princess outfits and other such things on children's shows when I was little. Was it pulled because of her outfit, because of who she is, or because of the song?

I am guessing the area of concern is between 1:40 and 2:00.

The kids won't care or even notice. The concern is entirely around parents' false sense of security over their children.

I'll be honest.....if I was working on the Sesame Street crew I probably would have suggested something a tad more modest just to be on the safe side.

But I'd have zero problems letting my kids watch it not matter what their age.

I'd hit it.
My blawgh.

The real problem is how hard she is to understand. She's not making any effort to articulate for the kids, and her vocals are even lower in the mix than in the original. If I can't understand her how is a 4 year old going to?

Also WTF happened to seasame street it used to be an actual street not this cartoon bull****

Yeah the kids aren't going to notice any bouncing. I mean, really, why is this such a big deal?

Disney animated films feature just as much cleavage, if not more (Little Mermaid?) than what Katy wore.

My thoughts are:

Who cares if they chose to air it or not to air it? It's not like they got censored, they made a decision based on market research. If they had wanted to air it and the FCC stepped in and said they couldn't, then we could be arguing about whether or not they should have been allowed to air it. But that didn't happen, so in reality, this is no different then the millions of other takes that are filmed every day that never make it to tv because the director or the producer of the show decides it shouldn't be aired for whatever reason.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

Lassev: I guess there was something captivating in savagery, because I liked it.

Ha, yeah. It's obvious throughout the video that he doesn't actually want to be there. The funniest thing about it is the contrast between how bored he looks and how enthusiastic the muppets are.

Because cleavage will absolutely damage kids and turn them into sluts, drug addics, and alcoholics, and steer them away from God, Jesus, and good Christian values!

I bet you a lot of the complaints came from the South.

If I had kids I wouldn't want them watching Katy Perry jiggling after Elmo. Its a children show, put on a t-shirt. Edgy is one thing but this is not the forum for it.

And I think a lot of parents are having a hard time raising kids with a healthy understanding of sex. I think there is something to the concern that kids are being introduced to sex too early. Sex is all over the place, girls dolls are looking more like sex toys then kids toys. And parents can't control how society and the media portray sexuality. But on Sesame Street, they can. So I have no issue with them pulling it, I just don't understand why they didn't give her a sweater or cute shirt to put over her top.

Care to explain why? Shielding kids from the reality of the world is a pretty terrible idea on any level. You don't have to shove it in their faces, but never hide it from them.

I wouldn't mind my kids seeing it, but I can't help but feel that that's not my parental instincts talking.

I'm not disagreeing, kids are introduced to sex too early in many cases, but we're talking about something that the market in question isn't going to actually notice. It's not like she's doing something inherently sexual like making out with anyone. I honestly doubt many 4 years olds are going to be noticing her boobs. It's the parents that are noticing and freaking out.

Like some other people said - Disney animation has just as much cleavage, from the Little Mermaid to Belle in that yellow dress, and no one freaks out about that. If the show was marketed to 12 year olds, just on the verge of pubescence, then sure, they might notice the cleavage, but I doubt the kids watching Sesame Street will. I know I never really noticed Belle's or even Ariel's cleavage at that age.

Maybe that 13 year old girl kissed a girl and liked it.

I think those parents should be more concerned that their 13 year old daughter was watching Sesame Street rather than the fact that she was masturbating.
