Operah
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.
2010-10-11, 1:29 PM #164
It's spelled "opera," and there's more than one of them, so you should probably specify which one you're quoting from.

Hey, that's pretty good. You should go to work for CBS fabricating 30 year old National Guard memos.

Who's Operah?

Some uber-rich black woman, I think.

Probably Oprah acting in her role as Brünnhilde in the Met's new production of the Ring.

Operah is the lady who impersonates oprah on the Hollywood walk of fame.

I'm sorry that you're not in on the joke, but if you're that stupid, you should probably consider not being that stupid. Like, seriously, try really hard not to be that stupid, because it's unlikely to help you in the future. Really, the kind of person who thinks "MacFarlanes reverence of Limbaugh was apparent" in that Family Guy episode probably also thinks Colonel Jessep was the good guy in A Few Good Men.

No, it's pretty much that Family Guy makes fun of everything and everybody. This episode in particular made fun of Limbaugh as much as it did opponents of Limbaugh and Limbaugh was the one making fun of himself the most. Really, anyone that can't laugh at themselves would have no business being on the show.

It's too bad Family Guy stopped being funny after the first episode. Or after the 10000th time they used the "It's like that time when.." joke.

South Park. Comedic Genius.

If you think that's bad, you should watch the Cleveland Show.

I'm amused you seem to think that's the 'proper' way to approach politics.

The belief that politics is the 'proper' way to approach running a country is a symptom of a feeble, diseased mind.

Yes. The political indifference resulting from the realization that incubating strong opinions about anything is an act of sheltering one's ego and fulfilling the need for ideological identity.

The same thing can be applied to morality. You just described nihilism.

It doesn't surprise me that you have the audacity to make yourself judge over such a thing, however.

Someone is.

Hint: it's not some dude who has just discovered nihilism for the first time but isn't smart enough to know it's just another kind of ego stroking intellectually vacuous precious-little-snowflake opinions-can't-be-wrong sophistry that everybody outside of the department of english and film studies dropped trou and took a steaming dump on right around the time they got a high school diploma and stopped writing goth poetry.

I bet you hate a lot of things.

In the future, it might suit some people here to have a better understanding before they start throwing around labels, too.

nihilism is fine and dandy for pondering "the meaning of life" but not for much else.

sure you could argue that in a universe of absolute relativity the only real morality or "right" is what works for you personally. and you could say that it would be in your best interest, as a nihilist individual to group together with others who are like minded. however soon a leader will emerge in the group, as ALWAYS happens with people and then HE is the one who is right and suddenly politics has invaded your dandy group of nihilists.
