Yep, just messing with you.

1. I go off on coworkers all the time.

3. You're using the same type of logic one uses when they try to suggest that they're persecuted because they have some backward 1950s view of homosexuals. It's the "oh so if we're supposed to be so understanding and accepting of people, then why am I ostracized for my views?" It's a false equivalency. Please stop it.

1. Good. I'm sure they deserve it.
2. I'm certainly not. I just don't know why you specifically treat so many with disdain when,
3. nobody is even acting like that here?

I don't know why you, specifically and primarily you, are so hostile and take so many out of context to launch into some dismissive tirade.

I would say that I couldn't have said it better myself, but that would be giving you too much credit.

And now I've learned by watching how you post with several other members recently how correct Jones is. At least I know Jones and I will agree on one thing!

That makes sense since you took it out of context and to extremes anyway. It's so much more clear now.

It's funny that you should phrase it this way, Wookie06, because a fair hearing is the literal opposite of what you want. The real reason you're complaining is because your opinions are put on trial here, and your convictions are so weak that you can't cope with it.

This is why I have always had so little respect for you, not because your opinions are different.

Well, I hope that you reconsider although whether or not somebody online that doesn't know me respects me or not is not the sort of thing that will bother me much anymore. I don't expect to be put on trial for having an alternate opinion and do expect to be given the opportunity to rationally discuss my opinions. My opinions can be tested and tried as well as my convictions. Those are strong, despite you mistaken opinion. I just expect a civil tone.

As I've seen it, since returning to the discussion here, only one person seems to be guilty of what I have a problem with so I regret getting sucked down this tangent. I don't understand why his behavior is so acceptable.

I've actually noticed a change in your tone and I like what I've seen. I also respect that you've substantively addressed me and what you perceive as my deficiency here. Attempting to engage with others here and persuade them from their preconceptions is what I want to do. I do doubt how successful I will be, though. I'm not sure that I am going to spend the sort of time required to do so. That's why I would hope more of you would meet me halfway but it is what it is and for however long it lasts.

Yesterday's paper just so happened to feature some article about recent research on the subject. The study showed that modern media don't negatively impact kids at all, only in really extreme cases. Of course I don't expect anyone to just take my word for this, it's just that it was in a Dutch newspaper, and I forgot to remember the researcher's name. I was reading it during my lunch break and it reminded me of massassi, hah.

You know, I'm not sure I'd trust anything printed in a Dutch paper. I don't even know why, it just doesn't seem like something you would want to do.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

This seems plausible to me. Particularly if you factor in the harm that is prevented due to increased exposure to information about sex. Assuming 'modern media' includes the web.

By all means. Don't let me hold you back from spewing platitudes in some misguided attempt to turn me into the pariah that you already are.
