I didn't know Poe Dameron was originally black either but thank you for further proving my entire point. Did you know he was supposed to die in the initial crash on Jakku then his role was expanded?

Gosh I wonder why Disney was OK with casting a black guy as long as they stereotypically died first. Oh wait he is in longer? Better get a white guy then!

I think where you're going wrong here is in thinking Disney draws the visual development art. They don't. There are a lot of people on the chain between those artists and "Disney," including...JJ Abrams. So your idea that the visdev art represents some kind of original Disney vision for the project is way off base.

It's a bunch of drawings to get ideas down on paper while they figured out what kind of movie they wanted to make. The ethnicity of characters in early visdev art is completely inconsequential.

This is why it's irresponsible for people to develop elaborate opinions based on numerous assumptions with regard to systems they don't understand.

Also, lol @ Disney being averse to black actors.

Must be why there's a Black Panther movie in production and a black guy is almost 100% definitely going to be Captain America here real soon.

Well, it's much easier for me to justify my ****ty opinions when I can project them onto large corporations and then tell people that's just the way things are.

I honestly have absolutely nothing to add, because you summed it up perfectly.
