Stereotype, Stereotype, generalization, generalization.
Radiohead is not depresing. If you listen to it, you would know that.
Radiohead fans are not pretentious, you are choosing to ignore almost all Radiohead fans, except the few that are annoying, who are hated by real Radiohead fans anyway. I don't parade around yelling about how I like Radiohead, and don't automatically think Radiohead is too sophisticated for you if you don't like them. In fact, I avoid telling most people I like them, and it's easy to see why if you read the above posts.
It's all subjective. I like Kid A more personally, but that album was one of the most influential Albums in the 90's, and Radiohead has the most growth of any band I have ever heard, and that I can prove that.
Maybe not the best, and Radiohead certainly isn't for everyone by any means, but it hurts me to see people automatically hate bands because of a select group of fans, which they choose to only pay attention to. I am not saying they are the best, and that you have to like them, but please don't say really ignorant things about bands you haven’t heard a lot of.
Still not sure personally if I think they deserved it, but I can't say I hate seeing it up there.
Sorry about that rant.
