Finally, a GOOD song with Serj from SOAD

There is no way you can listen to Seventeen Seconds, Faith, or Pornography and call The Cure punk.

If you do, you suck at life.

I suck at life? Are you 12? Do you actually pay attention to anything you type?

Punk isn't about aesthetic or a sound. It's just about energetic music, artistic integrity and a desire to push the envelope within Rock n' Roll.

At The Drive-In is far from pop. Pop is defined by melody; if you're going to call them Emo, I'd understand. If you called them Hardcore, I'd understand. I don't udnerstand how you could possibly call them pop, though.

I'm revising my list.

Seventeen Seconds, Faith, and Pornography had like no energy. They're pretty god damn depressing.

Your opinions on music sorta suck.

They also aren't the only three ****ing albums The Cure ever made.

And the rest are still pretty god damn depressing or downright SILLY.

There is NO Punk Energy involved.

Punk is a subject matter and a sound.

What subject matter did The Clash write about? What subject matter did The Ramones write about? What subject matter did The Sex Pistols write about? What subject matter did The Buzzcocks write about?

There isn't one answer for these questions, therefore the subject matter is irrelevent in Punk. Defiance may be a theme, but that's pretty vague.

Additionally, Television, Talking Heads, The Ramones, The Dead Boys and Blondie are all considered key members of the CBGB punk scene. These bands don't sound anything alike.

Again, these bands are among the most iconic of punk bands, nevermind other punk bands that came after them who even further pushed the envelope.

1) Rob was kidding. Learn to take a joke. Christ you elitist *******. (note, this is coming from me)

2) Punk is about artistic integrity? Haha, you make funnies.

3a) I said At the Drive-In were Pop Punk. Pop and Pop Punk are wholly different entities. And I said they were pop-punk at BEST.

3b) Pop is probably the most open of genres--it just means music that either is popular or sounds like it would be. ATDI would probably be a lot more popular if people actually knew who they were, and they did have quite the following for a while.

Have you heard the Relationships of Command? It's way too up-tempo and abrasive to be on pop radio. In general, the bands recordings (ex. Acrobatic Tenement, In Casino Out) are totally underproduced and don't really have any place on "pop" stations.

Obviously Pop and Pop Punk are different. I just don't understand what elements of Pop At the Drive-In endorses. Additionally, i see no similarities to bands that epitomize Pop Punk (such as Good Charlotte, Blink 182, Greenday, Simple Plan, etc)

Oh, and that's a wonderful response to my second point. I'm glad you use information and insight to back up your claims! Horay!

Jokes are supposed to be funny. Find me anyone who honestly thinks "you suck at life" is laugh out loud funny who isn't 12 years old. It's trite.

Because bands like the Gorillaz belong on pop stations. Trust me, there's a lot of stuff out there that, according to you, wouldn't belong on pop stations, but probably does well despite that.

Then you get my point. Which is they're not punk at all. Glad we agree :) lolsarcasm [/color]

If by claims you mean opinions, yeah. Sure. I'll go dig up your "facts" in a second. Maybe you'd like a turd sandwich while I'm at it? Because I'd be in the general vicinity to collect said "facts".

It's Rob. No one expects him to be funny, but he makes jokes anyways. Give the guy a break ffs.
