This is my introduction into the JK level design universe.
I betcha didn't think I could do that, did you?

As I said: It's a WIP. Lighting isn't final, and is really just thrown in there for these screenshots. Base texturing is final, but vines, banners, and some asthetic 3DOs are still yet to be included.

Yea, I sextured it.... added a few extra cleavage enhancements... and even managed to make Kirby's 1st map non-wheelchair accessable! But believe me, this map was hot before I laid my eyes on it. You've made me proud, Kirby. ;)

BTW, I know about those misaligned textures, so don't point em out! I'm getting there.

Very, very nice Kirbs. You too hal. It's things like this that make me really wish I was editing some more right now, but I just don't think getting into another big project is a good use of my time, sadly. If anything, I'll try and release some of my old work over the summer.

Anyway, the map is truly great. Has such a wonderful castle feel to it, reminds me of UT2k4 in terms of layout, texturing, and design. Speaking of texturing, where'd you get some of those from? I feel fairly certain that tile texture in pic 3 is from UT '99, but I could be wrong. ;)

I especially love the detail on the stairs and archways. And with the shadows, this is quite visually appealing. The only thing that bothers me is the lack of sharpness in the textures. Maybe it's just the compression of the pics. Also, I'd really love it if you released a night and day map, or better yet, real time day/night and weather effects.

Of course, who would intentionally

Daft, I've often considered the possibily of doing a realtime night and day system... maybe I'll bug Zeq to help me with one. It would be nice if it could read from your system clock and have it dark ingame if it's dark outside ;) Oh, and BTW. You are COMMANDED to create a CTF map. Now.

Are you sure? Most players would only see the evening/night setting. I think it would be better to have an accelerated day/night cycle (like some hours to complete it) and have two versions of the map, one that starts in the morning, and one in the evening.

Anyway, the map looks fantastic.

Looks incredible, but it needs detail props. I have no idea what, but it needs smaller details to fill it out and make it feel real, right now it looks like a beautifully crafted arena, not a real place...although I guess if that's all you're going for, it's pretty much one of the best examples ever in JK.

By the way, the map design is losely based on Q3DM4, but very losely.

We're adding in grass, banners, maybe butterflies/birds, bouncepads, sector tint, etc. I'm also thinking some barrels and wine caskets would make for a nice touch.

Just the colorscheme. Architecture is quite different.
I think this could evolve to one of the visually best JK levels ever created. I like it very much so far.

Wow. Looks fascinating, really. The only only only thing I don't like is that it's way too light. I know you said lighting isn't final, but, I don't know, have you maybe considered making it a night-time map? With a moon, stars, and torches and crap? That would seriously rock.

Looks good so far, but the textures look too busy, there's some crazy aliasing going on.

You need to find out how to get a bit more contrast going on (not excessive amounts though).

Koobie - we're going for that peaceful mid-summer's day feel... with birds chirping around you and whatnot... but as I've said earlier, if we could come up with a realistic looking night/day system, I'd consider it.
