What's even more amazing is that halucid made these textures himself!

Hal, I REALLY want you to make desktops of this last batch of shots. Could you make them in 1152x864 for me, and put the name of the level (and the authors) by them? Because I LUUUUrve these shots, and they are such an inspiration as to just how much JK can be expanded upon and made better in the hands of talented editors! :D

What? No he didn't. I recognize some of them; I used them in Rotunda. He got atleast some of them off wadfather.
Wikissassi sucks.

Yeah, no where did we say we made the textures. They're on wadfather.

I'm just gonna make public what I told Kirbs earlier...

If the rest of the pack turns out this damn sexy, it'll make me want to seriously play JK again. Something I haven't done in well over a year, if not two. And I'll totally be up for joining some MP games as cannon fodder.

:psyduck: ...just wondering if you guys could help me out with a few ideas...

I seem to be having an exceedingly difficult time deciding on what to put in the arches, and I was hoping to hear some of your suggestions. They were originally gunna be stained glass windows (which I might finally opt for), but then I thought maybe nice murals would work better:

(Note: If I settle on these murals, I'd likely lower they're saturation by 40%.)

What ever I finally use for them, they'll need to be composed of mostly team colors. Also, I have 11 arches on each side, for a total of 22... If I can, I don't wanna be redundant with them.

So what do you think? Murals? Stained glass? Other ideas? Examples of works I can photorape?

Some naked dark elf slave dancers would be nice. You know, fully animated and "interactive".
I think the second shot looks good. Don't like the first one too much, the red doesn't seem to fit in.

It doesn't seem to make much sense to have windows with bricks inside. If they were arches, maybe; but they feel too much like windows to get away with that.
Wikissassi sucks.

I think stained glass would suit the theme best--the mural just seems out of place.

If you decide on stained glass, one option is to add detail through tracery, and keep the patterning on the glass at minimal (e.g.). Also, the shape of the window probably lends itself well to a stylized gothic human form (either as a sculpture or in the glass).

Optionally, having the window open and with pillars, like this, could be good as well. It'd create a view of the skybox and presumably add something to gameplay.

I like the murals. They look really cool.

So yea, here's a new area:
I prolly shudda waited to post that shot until I added more contrast lighting.... but don't worry, I will. Also, you can't tell from a still screenshot, but the water actually ripples and defracts the surfaces below. It's an easy effect yet awesome effect!

And this it what I settled on for the windows. My girlfriend and I made these textures:

As for completion, we're about 90% done. Look forward to seeing some hot models from Kirby in the next batch of shots!

It's getting better and better. The water is ways too clear for my taste, though (a common problem with most JK-levels).

Considering that's a sewage line, I don't think clear water is apropriet anyway.

We COULD call it an aquaduct, and say it's drinking water...

We're also going to have wall mounted fountains, possibly. That'll be cute.

yea, actually, while I was making it, I thought, "Why would there be an open raw sewage line below an area like this?" After considering that, an aqueduct was exactly what I was shooting for... making it a great spot for those buckets and barrels you've all ready made. :)

The door texture in the last set of images doesn't fit with the rest of the set. First because of its colour, which could be easily changed. But the style of the texture is also different from the others. The brick texture also has a lot more contrast than the larger stone blocks which makes them stand out a lot. It would probably be look better if the space between the big stone blocks had the same colour as the mortar between the bricks (or at least in places inside the texture to add more contrast ). It's fairly obvious in the shot with the raildet as well.

(texturing lessons corrupted my brain :psyduck: )

Other than that it looks absolutely awesome. ;)

The very last thing I do before I consider a level to be "done" is I always fine tune all of the textures to match. I generally prefer lower saturation and sharper contrast. Yes, I share the same beef as you do on that brick texture... not nearly enough contrast. And as for the door, I just thru that in as it was (it was the only wooden door I had that was all ready in .mat format.) At any rate, I always do the tuning as a final step... only because I swap out textures ocassionally. Waiting eliminates unnecessary work.

Thanks for your lesson... although I think it would be better if you used your expertise of the subject on a CTF variation of your DMDMD concept... DO IT! ;)

...what? Either you're using Sith 2 or some new JK extension I'm not aware of, or you don't know what refraction is.

Yeah, but it's difficult to make murky water in JK. What annoys me the most is solid blue water indoors.

lol, I know what it is... and trust me, it's a psuedo-effect. There's of course no way to achieve the real thing in JK.
