Well, #massassi is mostly comprised of me and GBK endlessly quoting, aping and adapting Space Ghost Coast to Coast dialogue to just about everything. Sometimes it spreads into the forums as well.

Nah, R2-D2 has already shut down all the trash compactors on the detention level.
And when the moment is right, I'm gonna fly a kite.

I'm working on that now. I've got it to where the walls close in, but still have to program the trash meshes to appear as if they're being crushed by the compactor.

"I think we took a wrong turn!"

Looking great, BSR. Are you planning on adding in the Death Star's main laser chamber as well? Even though it's not part of the escape route in ANH, would be cool to see it (and potentially see it operate up close in personal as well).

I remember this Death Star map for JK MP that had pretty much every room from the film in it (including the superlaser controller room), and it was actually pretty nice for its time.

I plan on making every location seen in ANH, and perhaps incorporating some from RotJ, and then making up some of my own. And also, I'm leaning more towards an original storyline rather than using the ANH Death Star escape storyline. This will give more freedom on what goes on during the mod. The main problem is coming up with said storyline.

I had actually written up a little idea I had last night, but ended up getting sucked into Wookiepedia until I went to bed and forgot about the window with the post which was closed. Anyway, my suggestion is that you play one of the Emperor's Hands that he no longer needs, wants, or trusts, and the first thing the player does is escape Palpatine's chambers while he's trying to kill them.

I had a bit more, but I'll only share if you're really interested, or even if you'd like a writer for the story? I understand if you'd rather tackle it yourself.

After reading the novel "Death Star", I had an idea that's similar. My take was that you play an imperial officer on the Death Star that has become disillusioned with the Empire and wishes to defect to the Rebellion. So your job is to make it off the battle station with stolen plans.

I don't want the player to have force abilities, so the idea would be a combination of stealth and combat.

If you'd like, you can message me any ideas you have. I'd like to hear them.

My other idea was to create a Rebel operative character and have a series of missions featuring said character. Since I enjoy recreating environments from the films, I'd star the character off on a mission on the Tanive IV with orders to protect Princess Leia during the ship's capture. The character would then escape via escape pod or other means and make it to the surface of Tatooine. On Tatooine, the character would travel the desert and into Mos Eisley, where it would search for passage off the planet. In Mos Eisley, the character would be captured by Imperial Stormtroopers and taken on board the Star Destroyer Devastator en route to the Death Star. Once on board the Death Star, the player would have to escape from the detention block and hijack an Imperial Shuttle to escape.

This would allow me to give players the experience of "reliving" the events of ANH without being too constrained by what was seen on film. The missions on board the Tantive IV and on Tattooine could be prequels to the Death Star mission I'm currently making.

Magnificent stuff as always, sir BSR. Here's hoping we can actually get to play those levels at point as well wink wink nudge nudge (even in unfinished form i.e. Star Trek mod and unlike anything Zell ever made BURRRRRN)

Oh, and will your level have round Dark Forces-style elevator doors like TODOA TC MP does?

First of all, I should mention that I've ported (well, more like re-built) my MotS levels over to the Quake III engine, but have a few more things to do before release. Click the following link to view: http://www.trekbbs.com/showthread.php?t=145937

And yes, the elevator doors seen in the screencaps above do function like they should. They rotate/slide open just like in the movie, with an appropriate hiss.

Oh, and I should also mention that I have more faith in myself actually releasing this Death Star level, because it's actually meant to have objectives, and isn't a museum piece like the Trek projects were. Plus, I don't have to create a bunch of weapons and NPCs like I would have had to do with the Trek projects. I've already modded or downloaded all the weapons and NPCs I'm going to need for the Death Star project, except for two NPCs that will be relatively easy to create using existing skins (Death Star gunner, Imperial Technician)

BSR, your attention to detail is breathtaking. Been a follower and quiet fan of your work since the aforementioned Star Trek mod. I don't think I even own JO/JA, but the release of this mod would be incentive enough to buy them. Keep up the inspiring work!

Tackling the Overbridge / War Room now. Since this set was literally just two walls, a screen, and two duty posts, I'm going to have to use my imagination for the rest of the room. I suspect there would be control panels and various other screens around.
