I'm serious. Let's say you were trying to argue that nuns shouldn't be paid. You could, conceivably, make that argument by comparing a nun selling "spiritual love", as it were, to a protitute selling physical love.

You don't see Canada invading Mexico just because it doesn't like the way their leader does things does it? America never should have gone to war just because Sadam kills people. If it's his country, he can do what he likes so long as it doesn't bother us... (If he obviously had weapons of mass destruction that were clearly created for the purpose of attacking America, it would be different.)

Invading Iraq for having WMDs is kinda funny from my perspective too. Not too long ago, Canada was a leader in the areas of chemical and biological weapons, and we were also heavily involved in the Manhattan Project.

I've sid this some many time before here on this board, and I'm going to say it again. The US is in a position where the US is damned if we do, damned if we don't. Meaning, if the US does nothing regarding major international incidents, people jump down the US's throat for not doing anything (ie Liberia (if that's the place I'm thinking of) earlier this year. There was a major uprising there. People were being killed. The US was critized for not sending more peace keeping troops (some Marines went to evac US people from the Embassy).
On the flip side, if the US takes an active role in some sorrt of international issue, like Iraq, people jump down the US's throat for being too involved. There is no appeasing anyone when in the US's position. That said, I'd rather take a more active role than do nothing and have something bite us in the *** later on.

As for the original point of this thread, at least show some respect for the soldiers. They are overseas in a crappy *** country, getting shot at, some killed, and they don't have any say in the matter. They are doing their jobs and doing them to the best of their ability. For that, they are worthy of thanks and respect.
