Haha, I know, so many idiots shoot when on a ladder.
2005-03-20, 7:01 PM #42
i did it before because someone started shooting at me the second i got on the ladder in cbble in the middle area and i forgot about the major lack of accuracy and panic sprayed... i was aiming at him near the box and got a headshot... on a guy off to the left coming down the ramp...

No, you're wrong. Trust me, your little 'secrets' are something I already explained away--something I do all the time. Line up your shots with where people usually are, sometimes fire a bullet or maybe two before you get there (if using an automatic, called a lead shot) so that when you fire, it will be more likely to hit. You just don't know that much about CS--admit it. You're arguing with people who have played longer, on many more versions, and have explored the world of CS much more thoroughly than yourself.

You, sir, are WRONG. Admit it now, or later, either way, you'er wrong.

I've already explained this earlier. When someone is hovering their crosshairs over an enemy 3/4 of the way across the map.. as he is running.. he's a hacker.

Yoshi and Freelancer, I'd advise you two to cut it out before this gets any worse. Odds are you are both probably right about different situations.

Freelancer, what makes you think that people aren't that good? You think a professional tennis player is going to lose a match to an out of shape rookie? No, the tennis player is THAT GOOD.

Of course they are--unless they see where the enemy is, or have a good inkling of where they are.

Record a demo of someone who you think is 'hacking' and I'll show you more than a few reasons why you're wrong.

You can't see where an enemy is or have an inkling where they are well enough to keep your crosshair on him through a wall.

Free is right, you are wrong yoshi.

I downloaded hacks and spectated people for a few hours one day. It's dispicable and nearly undetectable, but there are a few cues you can catch if you yourself have hacks.

Let me lay it out for you: 50% or more use wallhacks.
That's a huge number but it's pretty accurate as far as I can tell. Sometimes it's closer to 70%, sometimes 30%, depends on the server. The problem is, wallhacking is undetectable. It can be totally attributed to "good reflexes" by naive suckers like you.

But like I said, there are cues you can see if you have hacks on. You can see them instinctively aim their crosshairs at people, through walls, before moving them away again in case anyone is spec'ing them. But they follow people through walls by accident. Or, they are walking down a hallway, and suddenly, for no reason, they stop, turn around, and go a different way as soon as they see people through walls that ARE NOT MOVING but they just appeared in sight. Or they always seem to know exactly where people are going to be when they enter a room. For example, in one round, they will check a hiding spot (because they saw someone in it) but the next round they totally ignore it and run right by it.

It becomes very obvious when you spectate people while using hacks... after this experiment I became very disgusted with CS:S and haven't really played it since.

You can tell me I'm wrong, but the fact is that YOU are wrong and the things I have observed CANNOT be chalked up to coincidence.

Another one to add to oS's list is when people perfectly dance around the crates and such in dust2 or aztec so as to avoid line of sight, then come up behind them. But yeah, he pretty much touched up on how you tell who the wallhackers are.

How are the physics in CS:S? Does it still take around 6-8 rounds in the chest to down someone with an MP5?

I'm trying to prove that there are servers out there that arent as bad as you are saying. If you can go into that server and record a demo of 3 to 4 people wallhacking, then go for it. It shouldn't be that hard.

Hostages Win.

I started playing CS in January after buying HL2.
The normal maps are alright, but have you guys played a lot of custom maps? I've played on them extensively and have a repetoire of about 50 in my cache. Some of them are really cool. My favorite custom maps are glassfloor, glasstrap, bedbugs, and splash (can't remember the prefixes like fy and de, what do those stand for anyway?).

What are your guys favorite normal and custom maps?

also - it would be cool if Massassi set up a server. Freelancer and JediKirby could settle their differences in a classic knife fight.

Speaking of wallhacking:

Looks to me like someone just shot all the walls out.

And yea it has an in-game demo recorder. To turn it on just type "record (name of file for demo)".

If that doesnt do it, then the console will instruct you on how to do it properly, because I know it told me how to either start or stop my demo. I believe it told me to how to stop it.

Almost all of those signs are things I do religiously. And I do NOT hack. You, brad, are also a newcomer to CS comparably.

But god forbid the guy who's been playing LONGER is right. God forbid the guy who knows more about the damned GAME is right. God forbid the guy who plays MORE is right.

That would just be a sin against humanity, wouldn't it?

Yoshi, you're ridiculous. Your're telling me you can see where people are like Brad is saying? No. You can't. So stop talking. You're telling me some rounds, just BECAUSE YOU KNOW, you check certain camping spots, while the next round you gloss over it without checking because you just know? Yoshi, if you do that, without wallhacking, then you don't havea good enough k/d ratio to say you're good because it'll get you killed too often.

LOL Yoshi, you religiously look through walls and instinctively aim at people, and magically know when to check hiding spots for campers only when there are campers there?

No wonder you do so well.

VAC2 will come forth and smite the hackers, and all the CS:S players will rejoiceth!

END OF ARGUMENT. :p

2005-03-21, 4:41 PM #65
No, I religiously look where people will most likely be, thus the chances of me shooting someone right off rise tremendously, I religously check a hiding spot and may/may not find someone, only to forget to check it next round, and I also get called a hacker far too many times for my liking.

And hell, it's not just me, it's other people who have played for the longest time too. I remember when I started on 1.5, I called my friend a hacker for the longest time. But now I can beat him 1/2 the time, and realize it was stupid of me to think he was a hacker.

There's patterns you learn, patterns you learn from playing with other people; where they're most likely to hide, you aim at, where they're most likely to camp, you take caution around that area, and you should usually fire a pre-shot before going around corners.

And these patterns may/may not make sense to you now, but if you guys continue to play (which I can't see happening) you'll realize that I'm right.

But it's okay, because you guys have to be right (the irony), and that's fine. You'll just realize you're wrong later on.

Good, one less newbie accusing me of hacking.

Yoshi is right. After you've played long enough, you start to pick up habits. There's places players never go. And if you go to a certain way and you realise no one is there, then you can guess where the other players are. 90% of the time, when I don't get killed in the initial confrontation, I creep around corners and listen to footsteps. Based on where the footsteps are coming from, I move my crosshair accordingly. After playing for a long time, I've started being able to tell exactly what distance a player is from me, just by the volume of their footsteps.

It's nice to know there's so many naive suckers out there like you. Easier for me to hack with impunity. Because, of course, there couldn't possibly be any hackers out there.. if you accuse someone of hacking, it's because you suck and they're good. Here's a newsflash for you.

Those pictures are so incomprehensible that I think it'd be easier to play without the hack.

I really have to agree with Yoshi here. I'm not all that good of a player, but I get used to player-paths and player types. I can camp a corner, or even move towards a corner, and know if someone's trying to fake me out, or going for a shot before they even come around the corner. And more often then not, after 3 rounds on a server, my instincts tell me where people are going to pop out from. People are predictable.

Just post us a demo of a server then, where 3 or 4 people showed evidence of hacking. Or maybe even one. I know what you meant before when you said someone would stand there and position their crosshairs over someone who was across the level, with 7 or 8 walls in between them, so show us, or quit playing the game, leave us alone, and let us enjoy it.
