Ok this game is hard as ****ing hell.

Does anyone else notice how it's really god damned easy to die? I mean it's not really a bad thing I guess... but damn is it hard.

How much play time do I have left? I just finished the part where you're in the mech.

Well then I'm going to get it if I get the chance. I've been wanting a game like Q2 for a while now.

In the first few levels at least, there are parts that make me feel like I'm in a futuristic call of duty :)

But...Half-Life 2 was AMAZING!?

How do you say it was boring? I'll never get that.

I picked up FEAR instead of Quake 4 because FEAR had generally higher ratings from what I could tell. It's not bad, kinda like standard FPS meets Doom3 elements meets Max Payne with GTA:San Andreas Profanity mixed in.

Because HL2 was, generally, boring. There wasn't enough actions/puzzles and it took a slower pace. Some people enjoy that more, others...don't.

I wish Quake 4 wouldn't crash to the desktop a few seconds after starting up. I've only found a few other people with the problem, and their hardware and fixes were completely unrelated to mine.

Weak dude :( I've been running it on linux and haven't had any problems whatsoever.

Oh wait, I take that back. The sound was garbled till I switched from alsa to oss and then it wouldn't start up till I updated my nvidia drivers. But once it was up and running, I haven't had a problem.

I don't know. I'm pretty patient, but HL2 did have some really annoying and slow parts. Then again, so does every game, including Quake 4. Every time they put me in a vehicle or on a turret or some nonsense like that I want to punch my computer. And what's with all of the guns sucking so much? And why the hell can nearly every enemy kill me with one hit?

Small list of complaints about the game... of course it would probably be alot easier if the signals from my ms keyboard and logitech mouse didn't get crossed all the time, but hey, screw it.

That must really suck.

Yeah no kidding. It really sucks when I'm doing schoolwork and my pointer simply disappears into the corner of the screen, or the keyboard is telling my computer that I am still left clicking... or right clicking... or scrolling... or who knows what.

My friend got it a day or so ago, and I can say from observatuion that the scripting is amazing, and the use of the lighting system is what really sets this one apart. He once walked in a door to see a huge black object coming at him, it turned out it was just the shadow of a typical grunt. You enter rooms and see shadows scurrying across the floor, it's just awesome. He's had some problems with it crashing during loading, and as for difficulty, I think he resorted to cheats about halfway through.

Thats funny, I don't find this game all that hard. I think the only part that gave me some difficulty is that one part when you're a turret gunner (earlier convoy missions) and you gotta gun down landing turets and missile towers. I just couldn't tell where they all came from. But then, I'm the sneak type player, slow and aware of everything. So that might be whats helping me foresee some attacks.

Overall, I just love this game though, haven't enjoyed a FPS this much in years. I think the last FPS I enjoyed so was Quake 2.

What difficulty are you playing on? It's easy on normal, but on the next hardest setting I'm getting some trouble (I could only imagine on hardest).
