Because the inside of the galaxy has too much ambient radiation.

Oh wait that's why we evolved here. Nevermind.

You have probably heard this, but the most common excuse I have heard is that their DNA was 'more perfect'. Though when I actually thought about that I couldn't figure it out. However, from looking at people who do inbreed, it kind of seems like it gets worse the more inbreeding there is. So I figure if that is the case, the current immediate problems with inbreeding could be because we have used up our genetic leeway. I don't know if I believe the adam and eve thing, but I like to think of ways to explain other peoples thinking.

Quote:
And don't forget that, according to the Bible, Eve was a clone of Adam. I don't even KNOW what that family tree would look like. Christ almighty.

No, that isn't the case. The rib thing is a leftover from the Epic of Gilgamesh. Since Moses (or whoever compiled the Torah) most likely compiled it from earlier accounts, one of which was the Epic of Gilgamehs, we can expect this.

It's a triple meaning. The word for rib and life are the same in the language of the Epic of Gilgamesh. Hence Eve was the 'Lady of the Rib' and 'Lady of Life'. This meaning, is, unfortunately, completely lost in both Hebrew and English. The third meaning is that she was taken from Adam's side, not the bottom of his foot, hence being equal, and although the same (human, from his same body) she is different, but his peer. Got lost, somewhere along the line though. I can't remember where I read this, but if I remember I shall tell you. I am confident you can find it if you really want though. Though, this is more evidence for ignorance of most Judeo-Christian religions than truth, a clone is a very literalist reading.

Quote:
I'm sorry, it just didn't happen. Even assuming there is a supreme being out there somewhere with the power to create the universe, which I believe, I doubt he'd be stupid enough to use magic to form a complete population with a sufficient genetic base to propagate itself into our current form.
Any properly-designed system has built-in mechanisms for self-adjustment and stabilization. Without any form of evolution or adaptation built into the earth system, the slightest change would result in the complete annihilation of the entire world.

Even if God did wave his hand and create the entire world overnight, the system would still support evolution because it's a smart choice.

I agree.

Ah, ok well then u all think A LOT alike.

As far as people changing, I was thinking actually about what scientists say about Lemurs.

On the island Madagascar, it was said that lemurs at first were all one kind, and then they started changing evolving, getting diff. characteristics and now have all diff. species of them. So that could be how humans changed to diff. races as well. I dont know, that's just my thought though.

Long long ago, in a laboratory far far away, scientists figured out that chimpanzees have 24 chromosomes in their sperms and eggs, whereas humans only have 23. Therefore, these great scientists theorized that two of our chromosomes might have fused together sometime in the recent past (aka million years ago.). Their theory made 3 predictions:

1) One of our chromosomes would look like two of the chimp chromosomes stuck together.
2) This same chromosome would have an extra sequence in it that looked like a centromere. Centromeres are the things in the middle that microtubules grab onto to divide a pair of chromosomes during mitosis.
3) It would also have telomeres (ends) but in the middle - and they would be in reverse order. Sort of like this:

ENDchromosomestuffDNEENDchromosomestuffDNE

See the "DNEEND" in the middle? That's what two telomeres would look like if two chromosomes were stuck together.

Lo and behold, these theories were put to the test. To test prediction 1, know that chromosomes all have a unique banding pattern. A "fingerprint." To test 2 and 3, you need sequence data. Telomeres and centromeres have characteristic DNA sequences.

What did those scientists find:

H=human, C=chimp, G=Gorilla, O=orangutan.

Quote:
The second prediction - remnants of the 2p and 2q centromeres is documented in reference 4. The normal centromere found on human chromosome 2 lines up with the 2p chimp chromosome, and the remnants of the 2q chromosome is found at the expected location based upon the banding pattern.

and

Quote:
Telomeres in humans have been shown to consist of head to tail repeats of the bases 5'TTAGGG running toward the end of the chromosome. Furthermore, there is a characteristic pattern of the base pairs in what is called the pre-telomeric region, the region just before the telomere. When the vicinity of chromosome 2 where the fusion is expected to occur (based on comparison to chimp chromosomes 2p and 2q) is examined, we see first sequences that are characteristic of the pre-telomeric region, then a section of telomeric sequences, and then another section of pre-telomeric sequences. Furthermore, in the telomeric section, it is observed that there is a point where instead of being arranged head to tail, the telomeric repeats suddenly reverse direction - becoming (CCCTAA)3' instead of 5'(TTAGGG), and the second pre-telomeric section is also the reverse of the first telomeric section. This pattern is precisely as predicted by a telomere to telomere fusion of the chimpanzee (ancestor) 2p and 2q chromosomes, and in precisely the expected location.

So how about it, non-evolutionists? Here, staring you in the face is not only evidence that chimps are our cousins (they may explain your last family reunion) but also a clue as to how it occured: two chromosomes fused, which could have altered gene expression in ways to change body plans.

Happy refuting!

Secondly, you are in no position to call me on anything. You have stated exactly these 'concerns' in the past. The 'constantly changing theory' for example. To which I replied with info on Mendelian genetics and Watson/Crick DNA being additions (that perfectly completed evolution theory might I add), and punctuated equilibrium being a mentionable and important exception to gradualism. The theory itself, populations of species change over time through mutation to the point of speciation, etc... has never changed. And never will.

I also wrote, to another one of your claims ('dissenters are silenced' or something) that this claim portrays ultimate ignorance of the scientific process. If a scientist found disproving evidence against evolutionary theory, he'd publish it faster than you can say 'jiffy', taking it to the biggest magazines, etc... science thrives on disproving. When scientists 'test predictions', what they actually mean is they're hoping to find data contrary to the theory, so they can put themselves above the other scientists, have their names in font 26 on the front page of newspapers, and being able to gloat about how important they are. They're not emotionally healthy people, in that respect.

But they never find data that goes squarely against evolutionary theory. The rabbit in the precambrian stratum has never been found. And never will be, so don't hold your breath.

I wrote exactly that to you the previous time you asked it. Then no reply came. You have done this on more than one occasion: spouted your nonsense, then leave so you wouldn't actually have to contrast your beliefs with the real world.

There are lots of terms for this behavior. 'Drive-by preaching' is one of them. 'Lying for Jesus' another one. Intellectual honesty it ain't though.

You have never, never, ever shown that you were actually interested in learning a thing or two. You don't deserve anything more than the copy n paste replies I gave you (which you still have to reply to, like in normal social discourse).

I also remember you ignoring the following advice in probably every post I have written to you on evolutionary theory time and time again:

Read a book.

People have already responded. And you seem to forget that in the past, creation was taught in schools and it took a case in the supreme court in order to allow the teaching of evolution. The school systems slowly shifted to the teaching of evolution, this wasn't some bias, this was...dare I say...more educational to try to explain our history without pointing to some magical creature in the sky.

and jon'c you need to change "medicine" to "modern medicine" most ancient medicine was discovered and practiced by the religious cast of society(sp?) such as medicine men/women druids, although they could also be considered ancient scientists so nevermind really...

 this is probably one of the arguments that erks me the most! if it was possible for god to make a burrito so hot that he himself couldnt eat it, we wouldnt be able to understand the mechanism of it anyways! lets just leave it at, if there is an all powerful being who wanted to make a burrito so hot that even he could not eat it, the human mind would not be able to comprehend how it would be done, which is part of why i have always you cannot bind an all powerful god to the rules of logic!
