Then I come read this thread and know why I stopped caring. As Kyle said, until I see a properly referenced scientific paper that has evidence to back up what it is saying I can never take the argument of creationists seriously.

I would rather not waste my time trying to structure a well thought out statement when the person it is being written for won't read it with an open mind and dismisses it without a second thought.

I for one actually read the links Gold linked to and read them with an open mind, whether he can say the same is questionable.

I too agree that you should read things with an open mind. However, I do not think that you should understand blindly where it is coming from. This plays an important role in my line of things (history), that noticing that most things have Bias, and locating that Bias should play a factor into understanding it as well.

also very true, coming from my field (physics) it is kind of a given that the report/paper should be unbiased and that if another plausible explanation exists for a particular result it should at least be mentioned and referenced to.
