Today when I first entered the school, a couple of girls were shooting insults towards me for no apparent reason. I ignored them and didn't look back to see their faces to acknowledge them, and the guy that was with them (there were three of them) told them that they were mean and left them.

As I left school today, this girl came up right in front of me to hold on to this guy's backpack that was in front of me. I didn't care at first, but after I got up the stairs I noticed that I accidently walked on her feet (you know when you walk to fast your shoe hits their ankle). She turned around, I apologized, and then she said, "Could you stop just a few feet behind me?" in a very angry tone.

I told her "No," naturally, as I don't believe I should follow her orders to solve a problem she placed herself in. I did however try to walk passed her, but then she stopped right in front of me while I was doing so. When this happened, I walked on her feet again. She turned around and chopped my neck. Before she did, I had to decide whether to pull a move on her that could potentially hurt her and get in trouble by the school, or I could take it, call her a *****, and move onwards. I chose the latter, but got to thinking after that, is it still a social moral to not hit girls?

The chop didn't hurt at all, but my ego was telling me to teach her (not as a woman, but as a person) respect. I ignored it and went on.

Ask her if she considers her shoe more important than your neck, if so, would she like to have your shoe on her neck?

Usually no, but there are definitely situations in which gender doesn't matter and I'm going to defend myself in any way possible. This would be pretty rare though; as it would require for me to actually be in physical danger. Not saying that I'm the toughest guy out there or anything, but seriously, how often does it happen that you have to fend off a female for fear of bodily harm?

Hell yes I would beat the crap out of a woman. At least for the same reason I'd beat the crap out of a man.

If I was defending myself from something serious, then yeah, I would and not take it any further than was necessary. Not in some petty situation, but it being a woman wouldn;t really affect that.

First off, your situation wasn't severe enough to warrant physical retaliation no matter who was hitting you. Even if it did cause some pain, I've learned that it pisses people off so much more when you shrug them off and smirk than it is to knock their block off.

Btw, I'm willing to bet almost every guy who says he wouldn't hesitate to hit(punch, not shove) a girl in a non-life threatening situation is talking a bunch of ****.

Its NOT exclusive to just women. Anyways you did the right thing, you let it go, even though you could conceive it as self defence, at the end of the day shes only going to get herself into some trouble later with a temper anyways, karma ftw. :p

In theory, I would. However, I, like 7, am anti-violent. I very rarely harm anyone, and when I do, it's out of personal safety, not striking back.

Think of a major revolution in history. Was there violence? Maybe not (independence of India, the throning of William and Mary), but chances are yes (American Revolution, Civil War) to name a couple.

I would've at least blocked/parried, and went about my business. If she still came after me, that would dictate whether or not to continue defensive action or move to disable.

Don't whether I should be ashamed or not, but I wasn't very soft when I learned Jess cheated on me. I do know that I don't regret it.

No, because the social consequences of hitting a girl are pretty undesirable, regardless of my own opinions.

Also, it's usually pretty easy to restrain a girl from hitting you without actually hitting her.

For one, its not worth the trouble it would cause. Whether people think its right or not, its not socially acceptable and your going to get in a lot more trouble if you hit a girl then if you hit a guy.

Personally, I wouldn't hit a girl unless she's trying to physically harm me in some way, and she could actually do it. A stupid little neck chop that does nothing doesn't count in my book.

In response to the question, if it were life or death, I could, but in any other situation, including ones where I would hit a guy, I am not sure I could. I don't know why, but I really don't think I could mentally do it. But like 7 and JK, I think violence should be avoided as much as possible. You'd think this would be a standard, but it really isn't. In my opinion, violence is a tool best used when you are not angry. For instance, mattering who they are, if a bully is constantly annoying you, sometimes knocking them out will get them off your back. This doesn't always work, but you can usually tell the cowards for others. And in this case, it shouldn't be done for revenge of the teasing, it should be to stop them from bugging you all the time. Just what I think.

If a girl started getting me to the point where I started to get pissed off, I'd simply say "Look, if you don't shut up and leave me alone, I'm hitting you in the mouth."

If they continue, they deserve it. I've done it before.

There was this girl in my computer science class, listening to really, really crappy music, and pestering me about somesuch or other. The night previous, I had pulled an all nighter to write a paper for English. Despite my repeated efforts to shut her and her crappy music off, she persisted, and I whacked her pretty good with a mouse-pad. She then went to the office to report it, and not much came of it.
