Uh, no. Your lack of reading comprehension never ceases to amaze me (but I'm assuming it's at least half intentional).

In that context, 'before' is in reference to order. Basically, it's saying to put Him first before any other gods. Now, with that said, bare in mind that any many religions, the God they worship is the same God that the Christians worship. Same goes for religions with those with poly-gods (which generally have a 'head' God and then 'subordinate' gods). For the most part, same God...just a different face (as it were).

The notion that there is a 'true religion' on Earth is derived from the politics of of various religious sects and the corruptness there of. Thus, why I don't participate in organized religion. There's really no need to with advance forms of communication these days. I can do the majority of research on interpretation online.

Because apparently those are the only options. Ever. Thank you!

Yes, your 100% right. I would never buy a shirt that could compromise my relation ship with God and thus lead me to death. You see... even the smallest decision can compromise your relationship with god.

Its not about color or flavor. Lets say I go into a store and there are three different type of T-Shirts. 1 is from some hard rock band that constantly says negative things about my faith and God and makes lots of Satanic lyrics, 2 is some Star Wars T-Shirt, 3 is just a normal black shirt. I'd buy whichever of 2-3 that I like because neither would risk anything with my God.

No, its more like:

God's enemies = Satan, Demons and those who oppose him

U.S. enemies = Terrorists and those who support them.

As an American, would you help a Terrorist, simply because it was the current fashion, or popular thing to do, thus at the same time making you an enemy of the U.S.?

As a follower of God, would you repeat vulgar and vile things toward God and in a way support his enemy the Devil, thus becoming his enemy?

My point, though (as was Roach's) is that 'color' and 'flavor' are choices too. That's the flaw in your argument that Roach is picking at. You should be more specific as to what you mean when 'life' and 'death' are your only two choices...

Let me put it this way, there many choices to death, and there are various choices to life. The principle to buying a T-Shirt is making sure that the T-Shirt in no way shape or form opposes God's principles. I.E. shirts that are immoraly revealing or with logos of satanic sects.

Edit:For example, your wife walking down a beach in a very small thong with a transparent bra, would a true Christian do this?

Because God has nothing better to do, he is poised and ready to smite sf_gold if he utters the word 'damn'.

sf_gold, you make Christians look bad. Please get out of my faith. You don't understand even the smallest inkling of the Good News, and you lack the capacity to ever know the meaning of the simplest of God's words. The only way to keep people like you from stabbing out your own eyes with toothpicks to make you deathly afraid that God will swoop down on a rainbow with dancing unicorns and show you naughty pictures of your Grandmother. And also make you go blind.

Could someone slightly more intelligent please summarize the current state of this argument so I don't have to read the whole thing before explaining how you are all wrong and I am right? I understand there was something about free will conflicting with God's plan for you, which is simple enough to the enlightened thinking Christian.

Actually, I was wrong once. It was that time I thought I was wrong; but it turned out I was actually right.

Thank you for those kind and loving comments my fellow "brother". Also thank you for showing the true beauty of your "Christianity".

Truly it all comes down to this:

Choice:
1.- Life: Following God's principles and commandments.
2.- Death: Falling short of God's principles and commandments.

And come to think of it, God's principles and commandments are not hard to follow, and even when one fails, you can always ask for forgiveness. Its that simple.

That's hilarious. It really really is. You've had a grand total of...oh...3 conversations with me and you've been able to pick apart my "reading skills" because of a thread that, and I'll be honest, started as a joke and one that've I've yet made a serious response in. Now then, I can't be truthful to myself and respond to any of the posts on this thread without the risk of being banned again, so I have a new idea:

Since this thread has pretty much taken a nosedive, there's something I've always wondered. God is supposed to be all-powerful, right? Then why would Lucifer even attempt to rebel against him? And then you have to wonder why God even created Lucifer, knowing full well that he would incite said rebellion and eventually corrupt humanity.

Well, first you need an evil entity to blame for the fact that people don't act very nice sometimes. Then you need to come up with a way for such an entity to come about in the presence of an all-powerful god. It's difficult.

tl;dr- It is a mystery

The way I see it, the ultimate goal of any religion is to convert people to it.
If the religion says "You can go to heaven if you join our religion, buuuuut if you're a good person you can go to heaven if you're Buddhist, or Muslim, or even a Taoist."

No one would convert to Christianity if that were the case. So, the people who founded the religion, especially given the circumstances they lived in (Roman times, Christians were persecuted. The more Christians there were, the less chance they would be persecuted.), they would want as many converts as possible. So they included the clause "if you don't embrace Christ, you're going to hell."

So, regardless of my beliefs on the subject of God, Heaven, Christ, etc, and granted this post is two pages late, that is why that bit would be in the bible and such a fundamental part of the belief structure.

Yes, you've struck the core of the problem. Congratulations.

If Christianity embraced the common-sense solution of religious equity, then Christians would realize that it is futile to claim one religion as correct. Religion is useful for a variety of reasons, most of which have to do with how adherents view the universe, treat other people, and see themselves. But to claim one religion as correct is nothing but a self-preservation device in a world that (I think) largely recognizes that religion should be treated as a tool and not as truth.
