The way I see it is this:

The 360 does a really good job at playing games that would be way better on a PC.

The PS3 will do a horrible job at playing games that would be way better on a PC.

The Wii will be a console, and play games that rock on it, but would be total crap on a PC.


I do generalize to a point, but you get the idea. The PS3 focus too much on FPSs and the Wii focuses more on console games, and does it console style.


But each to own, all that matters is that you're happy with what you have. After all they are just games.

Because, you know the PS3 is out. And Sony never had any exclusive titles.

The funny about this is that, though this is completely stupid, you argue just as passionately about politics or philosophy. Either way, let's get away from their stupidity and back on topic:

I don't think the PS3 will fail. I do think it will get hit hard from some of the stupidity of Sony and the fact that Sony vested too much into this project, but I think it will do well despite everything. Also, I do think Sony screwed up a lot, but they're working on recovering from their mistakes and are rapidly approaching a feasible launch.

The Revolution looks like a great console, but in no way a PS3 killer or anything because I don't even consider it in the same playing field. The PS3 is targeted towards home entertainment and gaming, with a hefty pricetag for a high amount of functionality (despite the BS that Jon spouts). It'll be the only excellent Blu-Ray player on the market, and Sony's making sure of this for a reason--to boost sales.

The Rev does look awesome though, and I plan on getting one, as well as a PS3. I just don't plan on getting a PS3 at launch.

My opinions on the next gen consoles.

PS3 is overpriced, powerful, and totally utterly not worth it to me. I've also never liked the PS line of controllers. They're too light, small, etc.

Wii will definately win over gobs of people. It's innovative, and at some point I'd like to play on one, but I have no intention of purchasing one, because I've never liked 90% of the titles Nintendo consoles carry.

360 is essentially more of the same, if not really a heavy upgrade, to the Xbox. But quite honestly, power and innovation right now interest me much less than a formula I already enjoy, just with more power and better graphics.

So anyway consoles. Being poor, I'll probably wait till their all out for a while, and then decide weather to get one or go Vista + D3d 10. Still, I like the way the Wii is shaping up.

Pretty sure you're alone in "getting it". Honestly, if Sony loses this console war they may be done for. That means no PSP. That means no Blu-Ray. Which will change the tide of the movie industry, (not to mention Sony BMG), along with the MP3 player industry, the headphone industry, the media industry in general would be devastated if Sony lost this round of console wars because, as Wired has written up (in quite a good article) Sony is literally staking their future on the PS3.

I'll maybe buy a Wii, but with that price tag (and the fact that I have to pay my own bills now) the PS3 won't get a look in for me.

My DS Lite is great fun, and if the Wii carries on in the same way it'll do well.

I see it like this:

The Wii has a new and fun concept about it, you can play games differently and it looks like a blast.

The PS3 looks like its putting out pretty much the same games that it did a generation previously, but with prettier graphics. I'll have pretty graphics soon enough!

And the wii has a nicer pricetag.

When I'll have the money, I'll get the PS3 - simply because of the games coming out for it, mainly MGS4, DMC4, and RE5. The Wii sounds kinda cool too, though, I guess.

My opinion:

I remember X-Play talking about a PS3 game a while ago, they played a trailer for the game, which was supposed to be a particular scene of the game itself. The clip was about 4 minutes long, 20 seconds of which was actually controllable by the player. And it's not the only game.

MGS4, RE5, Assassin's Creed, and Warhawk anyone? None of which are all about "OMG PRETTY GRAPHICS" (though they do look nice) only.

I'll probably end up buying a Wii, because it's the cheapest of the three and I'm pretty much a Nintendo fanboy anyway.

Anyway, Commander 598, the Wii also lets you use the Gamecube controller for a multitude of games.

They'll see how bad the sales are and port it to Xbox360 at least, maybe even the Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. Mark my words.

And one, if not 2 of those games are going to 360 as well. AC is going 360 (HELL YEAH!), as is RE5 isn't it? And while I'm still waiting on MGS3 to be ported, MGS2 was ported to the Xbox I believe, along with PC. I believe MGS was ported to PC as well (I checked 2 years ago I believe it was on Amazon). The same might happen to MGS 3, which means it may happen with MGS4 as well. And if it does, I'll be content.

i was at circuit city the other day, and was watching a demo of the bluray, im very impressed with the quality, albeit very pricey, should you have the money it seems pretty cool

Heh. I'll more than likely wait until the format is over and the dust has settled (VHS vs Betamax anyone?), and maybe get a Wii because its the last console being produced by a company I honestly can't lodge a complaint against (with the exception of the fact that its not Sega, but I digress). PS3 just seems like a waste of money to me, partly because you can apply the phrase "jack of all trades, master of none" to it, and partly because i havn't been all that impressed with Sony's offerings of late. XB360's lineup is allright for the few games that interest me (but I'm not much of a console gamer. I don't even have 10 PS2 games, and its the only active console I own).

But yea, the Wii sounds good. Now if only i had a TV that was worthy of anything more than a 4-year-old DVD player

Everything about the Wii just says "I'm a compact little bundle of fun" so I'd buy that if any of them.
