The last level I played on my last playthrough of TIE Fighter was hell. You're in a TIE Defender defending several transports and you have to fight of waves of rebel fighters alone.

The other trick to MM2 was doing the bosses in the right order. For example Crash man was an absolute pain if you didn't have Air man's gun (that (1) fires up so it's easy to hit him as he jumps over you and (2) does insane amounts of damage). I must admit I also really struggled with Quick Man's level - it was pure trial and error to learn where to fall!

I remember on one run through of the falling ship level in JK, I missed the switch to lower the ship to the level of the catwalk, so I ended up jumping to it and still somehow passed the level.

Abyss, it is called. Located on Ord Ibanna. What's so friggin' hard in this track is that you have to stay on a really thin ledge without falling off to have any chance. Once you fell off you had to take a much longer way. It wasn't even such a big problem if you were overtaken while on this thing, you could always catch up later, but you had to stay on it. It took me a long time to finish that level.
Later I even managed to do it without tuning up my racer. I wanted to have as much money as possible.

What were you guys doing that took so long?

Try that level on hard. Then it's even close when you go through the secret.

Another insanely hard level is Toad's Turnpike on Extra difficulty in Mario Kart 64.
Sorry for the lousy German

Haha, I love playing that level. It's the most frustrating MK track ever, and loast time which I played there were problems with trucks clipping through the guardrail, guaranteed you couldn't slip through.

The cars are the same every time for a specific speed, so you just have to memorize the path. Once that's done, it's a breeze.

The hardest map is more likely Bowser's Castle, in that once you fall behind at all, you're pretty much screwed the rest of the race.

You guys know that if you go the normal way on the ship and reach the bridge, there are two buttons that fire the engines up again and it resets the countdown?? That's how I got through easily

some of the British missions in Call of Duty are a pain. you have to defend this bridge and like 6 tanks come rolling in with bunches of german infantry, no one will give you any freakin cover to run out and blow up the tanks

I remember that. That pissed me off to no end. I also hated the part where you're on the jeep and the guy keeps handing you panzershrecks, and if you missed, you're screwed. And then he uses one himself and takes like twelve seconds to steady it and still misses. Also, the first beach in the Russian part. That made my roommate stop playing.

It might have been the expansion, but there was an American part where you're defending a house as wave after wave of Germans attack, and if you slow down for even a second, they're overrun the place.

CoD had some ****ty missions to offset the excellent ones, that's for sure. Like the ship level, where it's you versus everyone on the ****ing ship.
I had a blog. It sucked.

Oh god! Yes, the Nar Shadaa level! That was insanely stupid!

You started the level off going into the Cantina, then working your way down across the walkways until you finally rode the garbage hovercar to finish the level.

Oh God I hated that. It was so stupid, especially since the Rodians INSTA-SNIPED you when you went onto the walkway.

I'm late to this thread, but the last level of Thief 2 was nearly freakin' impossible. Having to go around and forge different parts of a circuit to override the signal being sent out by the baddy. Really hard.

I'm late, too. Don't feel bad.

Worst ever?

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for Game Gear. The first real boss: that claw-mouthed guy with the sloping pit that the bouncing kill-balls fall into. Has anyone ever beaten that thing?

Anyone?

Ever?

I just downloaded a Windows remake of Vigilante. It's insane. Even on skill level 1. You can get it HERE if you feel up for the challenge.

But where in that level is this "crate room" everyone speaks of?

I had completely blocked that from memory. It took so many tries to get through it. It didn't even make sense to me why I was supposed to infiltrate the ship, or why the other guy just started shooting.

Max Payne 2: Protecting Vinnie. the hardest, stupidest thing I’ve ever had to do in a game.

X-Wing Alliance: The second Death Star.

Splinter Cell: C.I.A.

Dark Forces: Overcoming my fear for the Phase 1 Dark-Trooper.

Kings Quest VI: the Miniatures labyrinth

Commander Keen in Goodbye Galaxy! The underwater levels. I hate those fish.

Ninja Giaden. The whole freaking game. I made it to the last boss over a year ago which everyone claims is easy, yet I haven’t beaten him still. Plus those stupid ghost fish. I HATE THEM SOO MUCH!!
My blawgh.

In one of the side buildings. It may actually be in the next level, when you're working through the hideout. I'm too lazy to open JO and take screens.

I have beaten the entire game. And let me tell you, that game pisses me off more than any sonic game in existance.

I remember I replayed that recently. I was pulling out of the reactor chamber and I noticed that the towers hadn't fallen yet, so I got into the turret and looked.
Suddenly, it sorta jarred loose and the towers inched towards each other and then-
BAM level restart.

-Such a fun game.

this is easy,

the game fx fighter using a proccessor that is even slightly better than the game's reccomended requirements.

why? you may ask. because the difficulty of the opponents was for some reason determined by the power of one's processor.
