I just feel that no one likes hanging out with me. Even now on AIM, I'm there, but no one talks to me. Any conversation I have is usually very short and I gotta work at it to keep it going. I tend to do whats better in the long run. I don't really break the rules, but I do when I feel like I must. I tend to be a sucker for peace and justice. I also suffer from Delusions of Grandeur, sometimes, not often. Sometimes, I feel like i just gotta hit someone, but I don't. I'm trying to get over that. I tend to subconsiously brag, some say I have an ego. My dad says I don'y eat right, I sleep too much, and I work out to the point of exhaustion. Sometimes after I'm done, I can't get up my stairs. I have a short memory, or a focused one, w/e. You could tell me something, and if I don't do it right away, I'll forget. And I hate doing it right away. My parents say video games and computers take up my life, when I spend the majority of my time either physically just exhausting myself or sleeping. I like to eat junk food. I drink water. I listen to techno, trance, ska, some rock, and i hate rap. Rap is R-etards A-ttempinting P-oetry. IMHO. I get frustrated easily. I have a short fuse with my parents. To quote a song:
"Got no job, no car, no money, no girls, no love, and thats not funny." I am just a social mess. I'm not funny, and not very exciting. AND NOW IM ALL DEPRESSED! Stupid topic.....and even knowing people and laziness, I doubt most people will even read this post in an attempt to read the shortest, and post their own, and get out.
I'm not even that shy, I'm very outgoing. (so HA! pagewizard :-P)

I also don't like the amount of effort it takes to make my hair look presentable. I have to wash my hair every morning because otherwise it sticks out in weird directions and gets all matted together, then I am basically required to use gel/wax/mousse to stop it looking like a mop. I have the exact same set of appearance problems (well, my hair's shaven now, but I used to mess with it a lot). You are not alone!

My main issue is the acne. It hurts and makes me feel ugly.

Why would any of you want to change in order to get a woman to get along with you more? If you have to hide who you are to be able to carry on a conversation, what makes you think you're going to have a good relationship with her? If you don't share the same interests, and you fake yourself, you're going to be miserable. Trust me, there are girls out there that are geeks like us. And a lot of them are damned attractive. Go to an art school. You'll find alot of them there.

That's why I usually go after chicks that are into the same things that I am. `

and, its not about hiding yourself behind a facade. To become what I am now, I had to turn my back on who I used to be and I redefined myself completely by rebuilding my interests on what I wanted them to be, not accepting the path society tried to force on me.

This may sound like a big price, but once you are on the other side and look back on it like I have several times, you will not want to go back, even if you could. When you look at it that way, the price of giving up what you used to be is nothing compared to what you get in return.

And it goes beyond women. Having high confidence will attract women to you instead of forcing you to chase after them, but even more importantly, high confidence somehow gives you more opportunities i ngeneral. Compared to this, I consider the ability to get women with it as a mere side bonus. The real payoff is the changes and enhancements in your character that come with time.

some of you are probably tearing your hair out at this point, but my challenge to you is don't knock something until you try it for yourself-- you might end up actually liking it. In short, Don't disregard advice that you're not even willing to test b/c of closemindedness and self-imposed limitations and the 'I can't do it / I won't believe it" factor.

Most of oyu would probably agree that people who don't vote have no right to b**** about the government b/c they don't bother to partipate in it. The same principle can be applied to my advice.

Try it for awhile and then you can say whatever you want. The good news is that its easy to go back until you reach a certain point, after which the changes usually tend to be permanent as your mindset is reconditioned.

One big difference: I'm not asking for money.

I'm not one to cheapen my philosophies by putting a price on them. I give it freely to all those that are interested.

Also, I don't take the remarks from the skeptics seriously until they take the plunge and try it for themselves. How can someone berate an ideal that they are afraid to try for themselves?

Physical:

  • My skin is scarred and red in some areas from years of severe acne. And I still have oily pores and get spots and blemishes.
  • My mouth is too feminine, the lips slightly too small and plump.
  • My nose is slightly too sharp.
  • My ears are too big.
  • I have to wear glasses, years of staring at massassi has raped my eyeballs.

Mental/Emotional

  • I'm too nice to everyone. Especially women. They just end up walking all over me and stamping on my heart.
  • I suffer from depression.
  • My 1st gf was such a F*ing disaster, that it has messed my head up, severely. See below.
  • I don't seem to have much luck with women. Granted I found the most beautiful girl ever, but due to distance, she didnt want to know anymore.
  • I very occasionally suffer phsychotic rage, very bad, so far only brought on by ex gf's.
  • I daydream about killing people somtimes, along with the anger. Even if they have upset me only slightly, I imagine shooting them in the face, or cutting them in half with a samuri sword. Just imagine what I dream about doing to my exgf's.

Clan Ruthervain- It's suddenly very obvious to me why Kill Bill bothered you so much. I don't think a person with your emotional problems should be watching movies like that.

As for me, I apparently freak people out. Some people ask me if I'm depressed or angry. I think it's because of my face. It's not very expressful. Don't get the wrong idea. I do like how I look. I just don't like that I freak people out.

I'm also pretty quiet (which probably helps freak people out). I don't know why I'm quiet. Well, let me think about that for a minute... I might be quiet around people I don't like, because I'd prefer to go unnoticed around them (which isn't a problem), and I might be quiet around people I do like, because I'm afraid I'll say something stupid (which is a problem).

How's that quote go, "better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt"?

Alot of people dream about killing people occasionally. Everyone has (or at least should have) a list of about 5 people they would like to see dead. If you don't, you're way too compliant, and you should really consider becoming a little less of a pushover.

Don't worry man, it happens to the best of us.

I didn't realize that not having wishes to perpetrate murder qualified a person as being a "pushover."

Maybe -- just maybe -- if you walk around with a list of five people you want to kill, you should submit that list and yourself to the local police authority.

Maybe.

And maybe not. If you honestly tell me there are not five people, in your entire life, that you have wanted to kill, you're flat out lying. Every last one of you has to have seen someone doing something, or saying something, and it has made you want to kill them. It's normal. The fact is, most of us just don't do it. The only people that need to subit themselves to local authorities are the ones that actually kill people.

If you don't have at least five people that have aggrivated you to that point, you're a pushover. You don't voice your opinions, or you get your opinions from someone else. Because if stating your individual opinion has never caused at least five people to hate you, and to get into a personal war with you, to the point where the two of you would like to kill one another, you're a pushover, and you don't tell people how you feel. It is the way of things.

And which, if you told someone that you had dreams of killing people would you rather hear from them?

1. Oh man don't worry about it, as long as you don't actually kill anyone, it's ok. It happens to everyone to a certain degree.

Let's see...

Bad Things:

- I'm a very negative person.
- I have Asperger's Syndrome (mild form of Autism), ADD, Depression and Anxiety [EDIT: and Paranoia].
-I lack coordination, social skills, humor at times, don't get jokes especially on these forums), stick out like a sore thumb, am not very athletic, talk too much, can be boring and depressing for others, and find it extremely hard to get motivated about things.

Good things:

- I'm pretty smart (I got a grade average of 98.9 at my private school)
- I'm tall (6' 1")
- I now have contacts instead of glasses (yes).
- Some girls think my English accent is cute.
- I am ok at drawing, JED, writing, and poetry.
- I get along really, really well with adults, justn ot som uch with kids my own age (I'm 15).

Well, that's all. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif] [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Let's see, to save scrolling time I just list the top 10 or so (in no particular order).
  • I'm extreamly paranoid
  • social anxioty(sp?)
  • the fact that I know more about computers than most anyone I know and they ask me for help with fixing a problem and then they get pissed at me when I can't fix it.
  • Very low self esteem (Page, since you asked for a reason, I was constantly harassed from grade 4 to grade 9, and by constantly I mean every day for over 5 years)
  • Way too un-trusting
  • I'm too quiet
  • I back down way too easily even when what I have to say would make something exponentially(sp?) better or easier to do.
  • I have about 4 friends
  • I'm not exactly small
  • I hate being called gay because (according to those 4 friends and most of my teachers) I have a good singing voice and like to sing.

Hmm, lessee...

-Worse acne than any of you
-Sometimes too outgoing, sometimes too ingoing
-very very skinny (5'10, 130 lbs)
-never actually having a girlfriend, despite numerous incredibly easy opportunities
-horrible nose/face ratio
-mistreat some people
-procrastinator/unmotivated, not seriously
-too much time spend on computer
-Have friends at school, but no *great* friends.

Surprisingly, I am very content with my life, and extremely happy, never horribly depressed.

@PWizard: Low confidence? I sometimes feel unconfident because of my appearance, but usually I can get past it. Like I said, I'm a generally content person.

I’ll be completely honest with you here Page. I don’t dislike you, but I don’t believe a word that comes out of your mouth. No one is going to try your advice because whether you intend to or not, you come across as a chauvinistic braggart.

On your success with women, remember this: guys who talk about it the most get it the least. You could well be popular with the ladies, but then I may just have scored with 3 bikini models last night. I can’t prove it and you won’t believe me, so just dry up about your scoring “prowess”. Either no one cares or no one believes.

On the whole confidence thing: the type of confidence you are trying to peddle is little more than an extension of self deception. More importantly though, your one-size-fits-all approach to giving advice is critically flawed. Not everyone wants to end up like you and secondly “confidence” is not the answer to every damn thing.

Like it or not, you sound like a broken record. The more you push something, the less likely it will be for someone to believe you. You try so damn hard to convince everyone you’re the man that it’s natural for people to think you’re full of it.

Contrary to what DeTRiTiC-iQ said, the “bashing” you receive is little more than people having some fun, since they don’t and can’t take you what you write seriously. I don’t think that people dislike you, they’re just sick to death of hearing you sing the same tune over and over again. It’s dull, and the more you do it, they more you do sound like a blasted infomercial.

It’s all well and good that you’re happy with your improved self and the “confidence” thing worked for you, but what worked for you does not equate to working for everyone, so just give it a rest ok?

If you have to ask people, who never know you in person, how to change personally and not capable by yourself, without some person on the internet giving advice, to become a better individual, this quality of yours seriously needs improvement.

I'm pretty misanthropic/antisocial.
I'm way too arrogant for my own good.
I spend too much free time on movies/video games.
I can't stand being bored. If I don't have something to do, I start freaking out.
Not really something I dislike, but I kinda wish I wasn't so tall. I don't really like to stand out, and being 3-4 inches taller than most people around me doesn't help much

hmmm, seems we have a lot of people who are good at computers and are arrogant to boot...

Myself, I guess I'm not like a lot of you. I'm shy. But let me go into that in depth. I have a hard time making eye contact with anyone for prolonged amounts of time. I can look into someone's eyes for a couple seconds, but it takes effort to force down the urge to look away. I also have a hard time motivating myself to start a conversation. I'm perfectly content in letting someone else start the conversation or have the first word. But after that I'm fine. I can answer any question you have of me, can bring up topics/questions of my own, but it's that initial moment of contact that escapes me. Now, you all may think that this is minor compared with most of your problems. But it isn't. Do you know how hard it is to make friends? It always rests on those people willing to get behind my quiet, smart exterior. As a result though, the friends I do have are very good, of good substance and willing to sacrifice for the friendship. So apply my problem to dating and you'll see why I have never had a girlfriend, and perhaps two close friends that are girls (neither of which I have any romantic interest in so there you go.) So basically, I'm unnapealing to most girls, because I'm the quiet kid who sits in the front of the classroom, speaks up only to answer a question; I'm one of the stereotypical smart kids.

Now, with regards to Pagewizard's advice, whatever the image he gives as himself, the advice in and of itself is worthwhile. Even if it is very hard to self-motivate oneself into changing something about ourselves, it is still a worthy goal.

From what i can see, your change process will probably involve a 180-degree turnaround from where you are now.

The first thing you should work on is your mindset. To do this, you must believe in yourself. Once you begin to convince yourself that you have what it takes to change, you will soon be able to start the process. You should remove any elements from your life that will hinder you. If you're a depressed goth or something, get rid of that stuff and start over fresh and try something new. Get into things that are more positive-oriented.

Here's what you must do:

1. you must get rid of your insecurity. This is the foundation on which everything else depends. you must convince yourself that YOU ARE THE MAN, AND THAT NOTHING WILL CHANGE THAT. this may sound like conceit, but it won't be once it becomes true. Once you believe it and have yourself convinced, it will show on the outside. Once that happens, it will begin working for you, so that makes it real and not delusional. Confidence stems from this. You must go through life willing to aim high and go for what you want with no regrets. Remember, someone will always call the shots in the world around you... Why shouldn't it be you? Aklso, you may have doubts about yourself-- you know, that annoying little prick in your head that tries to discourage you? Well, don't listen to him and don't lose focus on what you're tryign to become. Every timedoubt came into my mind during my learning process, I visualized myself ripping it out and jumping up and down on top of it. Doubt will destroy your progress, so don't give it any foothold.

A word of warning, though-- a little bit of this is good, but too much will create an undesired effect and turn you into a prick. Self esteem and cockiness is good, but not when you use it to belittle other people. (joking is one thing, but insulting someone and meaning it is something different). This will create the basis for a new personality. What we are doing here is custom-rebuilding your personality. You are rebuilding yourself based on what you want, and theres nothing stopping oyu if you really want to do it.

Next, we will work on your image. Focusing on image may sound shallow, but its not. The way you present yourself can get you into many situations, and you can let your new mindset dio the rest of the work. Change how you dress. Get rid of black trenchcoats and stuff like that and dress in something nice. You don't have to wear cutting edge fashion (don't worry about stuff like that, but don't wear stuff from the thrift store either) , but regular casual stuff would be a good place to start. This allows you to network with a bigger and more diverse group of people.

Once you have done this, start mixing with people. Your new image should let you mix w/o looking too out of place. When you're at school/uni/whatever, walk around and introduce yourself to new people. Get to know them and start hanging with them. With your new mindset foundations in place, it shouldn't be too difficult. If you have ghesitation, give yourself the proverbial shove in the back and push yourself into the situation, even if you are not completely sure of yourself. The core of confidence comes from withing, but experience makes it grow. Once you start building yourself a new social life from scratch, your confidence level will grow and expand like the forest fires did here in cali last year. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif] Don't worry about attracting women at this point-- your main goal is to rebuild yourself. Once you're well on your way with that, I will give you the next steps.

This is all I'm going to teach you for now. There is much more to be said, but giving you too much too soon will be overwhelming. I took the plunge into the whole philosophy and it took me a year to get straightened out and to get back on track. This process must be done slowly, and with precision. This is just the beginning.

Here's your assignment:

1. start to redefine your image like i told you how. get rid of negative things that can be potential obstacles and start looking into new interests.

2. once you feel ready, start using your new skills to mix with new people. The first few times will be hard, but it gets easier the more you do it. This is very important, so force yourself into it if you have to. Just start with introducing yourself, and see how it goes from there.

PS. Expect to make mistakes, it happened to me too, it happened to the one that taught me, and so on. It happens to us all. Don't let a failure break your confidence-- just pick yourself up, note the events that led to your mistake, and try again. DO NOT LET FAILURE DISCOURAGE YOU. Back when I was new to this, I failed more times than i cared to admit here, but I eventually made it . You can too.

email me at admin[at]pwizard.com if you have any questions.

Or you could just say [censored just a wee bit more] all that and be who you want to be. If other people can't appreciate you for who you are then they're not worth your time.

Don't buy into pagewizard's bull****.

STFU man, he asked for my help, now he's getting it.

He's obviously not hapy with himself judging on what he posted earlier in this thread concerning what he hated about himself, so why are you trying to stop him from trying new ideas?

Page: while its great that you want to help people better themselves, its generally a good idea to find out a little bit more about them before dishing out advice, like I said earlier: good for you != good for everyone else. So things like asking UltimatePotato:

"Have you always felt like this or is it a recent event?"

"Can you think of any precipitating event that may have changed your outlook?"

"How's your health lately?"

Can be helpful in giving better advice. For instance, UP also mentioned that he was an insomniac. So the first thing you should do is ask:

"How long has this been going on?"
"Have you receieved any treatment for this"?
"Does the appearance of insomnia correlate with your change in outlook?"

And so forth. Low self-esteem is not the cause of all problems. There may have been a death in the family, a fight with a friend etc.

More questions, less assumptions! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

That's a joke too before anyone gets pissy.

For most of the anti-pages(there are some exceptions): You think he is arrogant? There are better ways to inform him of things you do not like about his personality than to attack him. Has attacking EVER worked to get the person to change? NO! Because when you do, the person either ignores you or the increase the irritating behavior. Instead of acting like a bunch of Jr High pre-teens with a bone to pick with society, why don't you start acting like adults(whither you are or not) that have the capacity to express how you feel in a non-offensive manner? Stop stroking your little egos with your insults and mockery and learn some basic communication skills. And you may just want to try to look at an issue from a different perspective once in a while instead of hiding in a hole and chanting "I'm right, they are wrong" to yourself. You are so self-assured of your opinion(which you think is fact) that you are blind to any other options or perspectives and you dare blame HIM of being arrogant? Pure balls, pal. It is also because of these things that it is impossible to have any kind of reasonable political or theological discussion in Massassi without someone screwing it up. In short: Grow up.

And somehow I know these words are falling on blind eyes.

For Page(and watch anti-pages, I'm about to practice what I preach):

You are not faultless in all of this.

--You come across as jaded. It seems like you no longer understand what it is like to be these people. You tell them to do something and expect them to know what to do.

--In your help you like to play the role of a higher figure(like a sort of messiah) helping out those below you. This creates the shroud of arrogance around you. You are on the same level as they are and you need to start acting like it.

--Do not give help unless asked for it. Do not go around just giving advice to people. That irritates them. Only give advice when asked for it. Otherwise, don't say anything.

--Loosen up. I've noticed you seem to have a phobia for self-deprecation of any kind. There is nothing wrong with making fun of yourself for chuckles.

--Your first advice post was very professional, but in this kind of enviroment that just translates into corniness. The only enviroment where you want to use a professional tone in your advice is if you start selling your advice. In fact, the professional tone is a large factor in making you seem like you think you are higher than everyone else.

--You are never done improving. Ever. There are always things to improve no matter how small because perfection does not exist. Just make sure you concentrate on things you can actually change and don't go overboard and become comparable to an anorexic super model who's addicted to crack and thinks her eye lids are too fat.

I could probably put more, but it's past midnight where I am and I'm tired.

A. Somehow, I think you're making quite a big deal out of this.

B. "Has attacking EVER worked to get the person to change? NO! Because when you do, the person either ignores you or the increase the irritating behavior."
--True enough. Problem is, you assume I and others are trying to get him to change. It's probably more of a mix between ego-boosting, jealousy, and entertainment.

C. "You are so self-assured of your opinion(which you think is fact) that you are blind to any other options or perspectives . . . "
--It's funny. That sounds a lot like Pagewizard to me. For example, -Run's well thought out and civil replies present alternatives which have been flat out ignored.

And you don't see a problem with that? You need to get your jollies by insulting someone over the internet that has done nothing to you except have a different opinion? Am I the only one that sees something wrong with that?

And Pagewizard is by no means perfect either. He may be instantly discrediting Run because he has an opposing opinion and that is something he has to work on, but at least he isn't being insulting in the process. He may be ignoring it because he doesn't like what he sees but he isn't pushing that dislike on anyone else. "If you don't have anything nice to say than don't say anything at all." We are going back to kindergarten basics here people.
