I'm all for trying new beers. What would you suggest? To be honest though there's not really that much of a selection around here :(

I didn't see anyone mention corona, sometimes I pick up a sixer of that.

This thread makes me really, really sad, except for Vegiemaster, who mentioned Yuengling, so he is now the best.

Yuengling isn't that great. It's good for the price, though.

Budweiser is ok. It's not my first choice, particularly because it seems to be rather expensive on draught here in Liverpool. Personal favourite is Carlsberg, but I can enjoy most lagers. Wouldn't touch Carling unless it was free, though.

Don't like ales or bitters, and I just don't trust Guinness.

I've been trying out quite a few different beers while I've been out in Geneva, mostly white beer's.

I had tried Hoegaarden and Kronenbourg Blanc before in the UK and still swap between the two while out here. Also tried a more "local" brand to swizterland in the form of Schneider Weisse. Those 3 are mostly what I rotate between at the moment.

I'm on spring break in Florida, and apparently Yuengling's sold here. I'm getting some.

I don't think I've ever had birch beer. Cream soda does own however.

If you like Budweiser, then Carlsberg, St. Pauli Girl and Pilsner Urquell might be up your alley and they're widely available. I've also heard good things about New Belgium Blue Paddle, if you can find it. It's hard for me to recommend pilseners because that's really not my favorite style of beer.

I'd also recommend trying some amber ales (New Belgium Fat Tire, Bell's Amber Ale) and like Emon suggested, some weissbiers (Blue Moon, Hoegaarden, and Goose Island 312). Avoid IPAs -- I like them, but they're pretty much the opposite of what you're looking for.

Roanoke VA.

I'd also like to mention that Budweiser on tap tastes completely different on tap than it does in the bottle. It's like two different beers to me.

You'll find that to be true for a lot of beers.

I'll agree with most of this apart from I hate Bud, and I'm going to specify Carlsberg export. :P

Well, apart from this stuff called Schmucker I had in Spain once, that stuff was awesome. But my point about cider being much superior to any beer stands.
nope.

I tried ruination IPA last night, and my God was that delicious. I know someone posted a picture of it already and I just had to try it with a name like that.

You guys all eat caviar and drive audis, too? Jesus. Why don't you take a step off your ivory tower and drink a gas station six pack of bud, coors, miller, corona, labatt, or whatever else is cheap (but better than natty light or keystone).

Okay, but seriously, this is a thread about FAVORITE beers, and since I am poor and don't drink very much, a Labatt Blue or a Bud Select are usually good enough for me.

Why? It's not like wine in which a good wine is far more expensive than cheap wine; great beer is only slightly more expensive than brews like bud. I'd rather drop the extra dollar or two per pint to make sure it doesn't taste like hobo piss.

Yeah. It's one thing to drink cheap beer because you can't or don't want to spend the money, it's another to actually call Bud your favorite. :gonk:

My favorite beer is an award-winning Quebecois microbrewery beer. It's a triple-fermented Belgian-style Abbey ale, very smooth and somewhat tart. It's 9% alcohol. It comes in a champagne bottle.

It's probably one of the best beers in the world and it's maybe twice the cost of Budweiser by volume. It also has twice as much alcohol in it. If you're drinking beer for the flavor, you can't go wrong by upping your choice. If you're drinking beer to get drunk, you might as well drink less (or be a man and switch to hard liquor). If you're honestly just trying to be happy with what you can afford, it's commendable but it doesn't really make a lot of sense.

I like beer, but in the same way I like...cranberry juice. If the opportunity presents itself, I'll enjoy it. If I want to get drunk, I prefer whiskey. I'm not about to require a special trip to the liquor store to spend extra money on a special beer though. I just throw in some extra money if someone's going to the gas station to buy beer and make sure they don't get miller lite. Because it's disgusting.

From what I can tell from my brief visit to the Bierodrome a good beer costs just over twice as much as a standard beer, so about £7 for a pint rather than £3.

Buying a pint of beer no matter the price is fairly rediculous given that it tastes of bitter dirty water.
