When Gary Oldman came up to arrest the Joker, everyone in the theatre was on their feet clapping. It was great.

I was actually pretty disappointed. There was way too much CGI, some of the actors seemed... off, and the music was terrible. Oh well...

And as for Batman, it was pretty ****ing awesome. Dent was awesome, Joker was really awesome, and Batman was gravellier than ever. The only thing I was disappointed by was the multiple circling shots and the music. The music for these new Batman's is pretty bland and forgettable if you ask me.

One thing I was wondering is what they intended to do with the next film. I assumed it would feature Two-Face , because I didn't think Dent would get that far in this movie. But they never do show what happens to Joker after Batman leaves him hanging... perhaps they intended to have him return? Too bad...

Batman and The Joker are destined to continue fighting forever. They'll probably bring in another actor to play The Joker in the next movie.

As for other villians.. I'm thinking that Poison Ivy will be the next... based on nothing, besides the fact that Poison Ivy is hot.

They better not try and bring back the Joker. I will be very pissed if they try to do that.

Only because the Joker switched the directions.

...What? Besides Two-Face (which had a lot of practical make-up effects) and a few of the scenes in Hong Kong, not much was CGI in this movie. Nolan wants to do everything practical if its possible (including flipping a semi.)

As for what villain is next, I'm betting on the Riddler or Catwoman. Nolan said he wouldn't do the Penguin because his character is too far-fetched.

He was saying there was too much CGI in the Watchmen trailer.

And I commend Nolan for that. Too many movies want to use CGI for everything.... *coughindycough*

And I don't see how Penguin is that more far-fetched than Catwoman... but I don't want to see the Riddler. I would take Catwoman first.

I think Nolan and Bale have stated that they have absolutely NO interest in introducing Robin. Bale even said he'd walk away from the films.

I heard that too. While that's good because I don't think Nolan would even want to try to make a good Robin (he probably could but I'm glad he doesn't want to try), that's kind odd for a lead actor to say something like that. But overall I'm glad, Robin would suck in this Batman series.

Side note, in my opinion, the Dark Knight isn't just one of the best superhero films made but one of the best action films (I know a lot of people are saying that, but I happen to agree).

Best movie I have seen in theaters so far this year to say the least. Unlike Vincent, I thought the music was great (already ordered the soundtrack). Elfman relies on a single theme a bit too much, this music is more subtle and is better at carrying out the mood. However despite what Hans Zimmers and James Newton Howard say, I definitely recognize a theme for Batman from Begins and The Dark Knight.

Have you noticed Nolan addressed the complaints of the shaky camera during fight scenes? Did you notice they broke the fourth wall with Bruce commenting on the new suit's improvements with Fox.

The only flaw I have for the movie is with some of the scene transitions. Somehow they feel a bit jumpy and unsmooth compared to Hellboy 2 from last week.

By the way, I missed part of the ending. I probably shouldn't have drank so much water before watching the movie.
I saw Two-Face die...well at least I think he's dead after that fall. After all, Batman doesn't kill people and him killing someone from a tackle is rather out of character.

What happens after this? I came back to see Batman riding on his Batpod with him being declared an illegal vigilante. Has Fox really resigned?

What I love about the Dark Knight (and Begins) is the same as what the guys on TRS said. I love how soundtracks have become thematic now and build throughout a movie and aren't just all about fanfares.

To Cloud:
Batman wants Gordon to tell everyone that he (Batman) killed all the cops that Harvey killed so that Harvey would die a hero rather than a villain. Batman runs off and Gordon has a monologue that is intercutted with flash forwards (Harvey's Eulogy, Alfred burning the letter from Rachel, Lucius entering in his name which destroys the sonar system). I don't know whether Lucius resigned or not, he said as long as the machine exists at Wayne Enterprises, he would resign, but then its destroyed at the end, so who knows.

Because he's the hero that Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now... and so we'll hunt him... because he can take it... because he's not a hero... he's a silent guardian, a watchful protector... a Dark Knight...

Wow that sucks that you missed it, you ought to go see it again anyway though, such a great film.

And I loved the score of the film personally, it was done quite well in my opinion.

In the theatre I was in, a strange sound somewhere between a gasp and a cheer went up from the audience at that point. Really well-done.

I vote for Halle Berry as Catwoman for the next movie. :awesome:

Die.

In.

A.

Fire.

If it's going to be anyone, it should be Summer Glau or Charlize Theron.

The scene with the pencil magic trick was incredible. Everyone applauded after that scene when I watched.

And Robin should be played by Shia LaBeouf. And they should play up the homoerotic aspects.

In all seriousness, that could actually be good.

I have a feeling they wont bring back joker, the next batman movie will be with either two face or mr freeze. I personally hope two face, since hes badass.

Still need to see this movie. Maybe tonight.

They could probably do a good riddler. He'd have to be mental in a different kind of way though. Catwoman could work but again would need to be nuts (and a hard act to follow with the Batman Returns Catwoman)

Mr Freeze? err not likely. Poison Ivy? ditto. A nice twist for the "robin" thing would be to have him as a sort of off the rails batman, so for a change batmans fighting him.
2008-07-19, 9:28 AM #73
^ thing is they already did those two with the michael keaton movies. It'd be kind of like bringing back the fight on hoth in episode 3.

True they did (but lets be honest those 2 of the 4 films werent great (Tim Burton ones were good. Once the Riddler and Mr Freeze came along things went bad. And Two Face wasnt that great either. Penguin could be made darker?

Truth said theres not alot that they can do unless they make something new.
2008-07-19, 9:48 AM #75
Nolan said he wouldn't do the Penguin. And Two-Face is dead .

Another point in favor of Summer Glau.

Yeah most likely it was only like 4 minutes left and I could have held it. Guess heads I should have stayed and tails I should have bailed? I think I read somewhere that the home release for Blu-ray and DVD won't be until December....if so then there's a stronger inclination for me to go back and see it a second time.
