I think one of my favorite shots was:
The end when the Joker is hanging upsidedown from the rafters of that building and they slowly rotate the camera around. The bouncing around in and our of focus is just realllly eerie

PYF SHOTZ
my favorite was at the beginning of the chase scene, when the side doors on the trailer opened and the joker was hanging out there. I was all, OH **** IT IS THE JOKER

Do we still have to use spoiler tags or can we post spoilers freely?

It's only just been released this weekend in the UK, keep the spoiler tags.

Could always make a new thread with a massive spoiler warning in the title or something if you wanna get right into it

I bet most here that excited about the film have seen it already but I won't argue.

Well I've managed to see it, but real life does sometimes get in the way - the only reason I got a window to go on saturday was that plans with a friend of Izzy's fell through. Otherwise I would have had to wait until the middle of next week.

So yeah, keep the tags at least for another week, or as Deadman said, open a MASSIVE SPOILER THREAD.
2008-07-27, 12:07 PM #173
The only reason I got to see it was that the tickets were booked two weeks ago. It's literally been sold out solid for the whole weekend. I also had to see it at 2:30am.

I think it's because Bruce has become quite accustomed to using that voice. Everytime he dons the suit the voice becomes second nature to him.

Oh here's another video although this focuses more on Bale than Batman.

I remember my only nitpick, possibly, with the film. When Batman shows up the first time and grabs the rifle from one of the phony batmen and bends the barrel. That is actually one of my pet peeves. It doesn't matter if you're the Hulk or Superman, let alone Batman with normal strength, you can't do that when a normal person is holding the weapon. It would simply pull the weapon from their hands. Duh!

he had some kind of mechanism on his arm/hands.

Well, superstrength could never account for it. Maybe it was some kind of technology that softens the metal so that he can bend it. Still, that would be pretty major and, so far, they've discussed all of the major technology incorporated into his suit.

He also ripped open the side of a van with a gadget. He must just have a few handy items on his suit.

2008-07-27, 7:23 PM #180
I thought he just ripped open the side of the van with the sharp protrusions on his armor. Still, anytime I see a character grab the barrel of a firearm and bend it while the non-superpowered person holds it, it seems silly. Let alone two normal strength individuals.

He had a lot of things he seemed to use in the opening scene. Something that made him bend the gun, he had some kind of brass knuckle thing he used on a few guys, and then he had a blade that cut open the van.

2008-07-27, 8:19 PM #182
Yeah but most of Batman's gadgets kept with a level of realism. There just is no way a person could hold a gun while it is being bent wtih one hand. No, maybe, if Batman grabbed it with two hands and bent it but even that implies some sort of exoskeleton that we haven't seen. And he really didn't use anything to bend the rifle. He grabbed it with one hand and bent it. Even with superstrength that is impossible, as I said before. Bah, beating a dead horse.

After he bends the rifle (there is something under his glove that he grabs the gun with) - but yes, we are beating a dead horse:

Thanks timewolf. That shot was so blatant as well - I don't know how wookiee missed it: they literally had him show his palms to the camera to explain how he did it!!

its a hydraulic system for those hard to bend occassions

anyone see that batman left the device he cut open the van's side with on the van? either that or its what Bale was holding onto during shooting

I think the idea is that the device got stuck and he had to detach it in order to avoid getting smashed into the pillar. He wanted a new suit for more than just the dogs.

Well, it is the type of thing that would be interesting to see frame by frame on DVD. I heard a sound effect but still think it's cheasy.

No disrespect intended but you shouldn't expect to be shielded from spoilers just because you've been busy. I mean some of us are busy for 12 months at a time and don't expect to be shielded from spoilers. But, that's why I brought it up.

Yeah, it's bad enough most games and films coming out here last, we don't need people spoiling them as well. It's not like it's hard work...

anyone else love the random sustained note whenever its building up suspense for what Joker's gonna do?

The film had only been out 3 or 4 days here when I saw it, about a dozen extra characters is just simple courtesy for people that haven't seen it.

Granted now that I've seen it all I can really complain about it is Gary Oldman's englishness shining through whenever he raises his voice.

:P
nope.

It was sold out for the first 4 days at the movie theatre here. I would have loved to have seen it at midnight the first day, but I couldnt. i expected that people would show some respect and not talk about the movie in front of me until I had seen it. Luckily even though I saw it 4 days after it was released, no plot details were spoiled for me.

Plus, its not really THAT hard to type [spoilers]

Yeah! The sustained note at the party when the Joker is harassing the guests and looking for Harvey Dent really made my skin crawl.

That's one of the things that made the film in my opinion

I didn't notice the sustained note thing . I need to watch it again.

And the gun barrel thing, I didn't notice the wrist shot either. I simply assumed that it was some kind of mechanism cause it's likely he would have something like that.

Finally saw it last night.I'll just say ditto to all the positive things you guys have said, no sense in repeating them.

I am wondering where they're going to go from here. In my opinion, this incarnation of the Joker is basically the perfect villain. I'm a person who studies, relies on, and takes comfort in logic. A villain with no motivation, nothing to lose, no regard for himself, etc. is just ****ing terrifying. How do you deal with someone like that?

It's going to be a very tough act to follow. I don't want them to cast someone else as the Joker. I generally hate cast changes between movies, especially when the roll was played so well. I wasn't sorry at all to see Katie Holmes go, though, it should have been Maggie from the beginning. Too bad they can't go back and splice her in.

Though I guess one nice side effect of the change (which someone else mentioned, I think) is seeing Rachel go from looking like a brown-haired barbie girl to a woman who deals with a massive amount of stress.
