Antony, question: Why the high holy **** was Notre Dame playing in San Antonio tonight?

Notre Dame has a new deal starting this season where they play a "home" game at a neutral site. Since they're a non-conference team they usually are faced with an insanely high strength of schedule. This is a deal made with the NCAA that somehow allows them to have 2 easy games each season as long as they play one neutral site game.

Next year they play Army at Yankee's Stadium, and the year after that they play (somebody) at Cowboy's Stadium.

As long as they perform somewhat like they did in the Alamo Dome last night, I'm all for these neutral site games.

Ten bucks USC somehow still makes it into a BCS game with two losses

It's kinda late in the season for that sort of comeback. They're bowl eligible and they'll probably end up robbing a more deserving team from a BCS bowl.

I'm sure Notre Dame will end up in one too, provided they win out, which they probably will. Do I think that's right? Hell no. There are teams that have much better records who won't make it to a BCS bowl. There are so many undefeated teams and one loss teams that it won't end up fair. Once again, teams like Boise State and Cincy will end up robbed of good bowl games, and that just aint fair.

I'm really hoping for TCU. I'm a big fan of them, and they have one of the, if not the, best defense in the league. I'm positive that if they played any one of the big conference teams that it would be a great matchup.

It's gonna be weird this year. Because there are a lot of teams in the top 10 or so that are not big TV teams. Iowa, Cincinatti, TCU, Boise St arguably. Assuming these teams win out, which is definitley a possibility, the BCS is going to be under the spotlight heavily. Should they go with teams that no one will watch, or are they gonna fold like they usually do and go with USC, the Oklahomas, the LSUs, etc.

Well, Oklahoma isn't going to a BCS bowl this year.

Personally I just wish the Heisman committee would get it's head out of Colt McCoy's ***. Not to toot my favorite team's horn, but Jimmy Clausen has the best stats of any QB in FBS. The only guy more talented than him is Tebow, and he's actually having a lackluster season in comparison to 2 years ago.

I agree with you on the TV problem with most of the top 10 teams, though. Teams like Iowa, Cincy, TCU, Boise St, and even Oregon are not going to pull big ratings in the bowl games they deserve.

I hate college football.

Notre Dame loses 23-21 to Navy.

I hate Sarn by association now.

The new BCS poll is out.

http://espn.go.com/college-football/rankings

1. Florida
2. Alabama
3. Texas
4. TCU
5. Cincinnati

TCU's only chance seems to be for Texas or the SEC champion to lose a game.
2009-11-10, 3:40 PM #52
I think even if the SEC champion has a loss they'll get voted ahead of TCU.

Well either Florida or Alabama will have one loss at the end of the season, one way or another.

So it's probably going to end up Texas and Florida/Alabama in the BCS Championship and then TCU, Cincy, Boise St, and the loser of Florida/Alabama fighting it out for the remaining big bowls.

Florida beat FIU 62-3 today, and the win streak is at 21.
2009-11-21, 9:26 PM #55
Iowa's also in the mix for a BCS bowl. I'm rooting for them, since that would likely put Northwestern in a New Year's Day bowl.

The Irish have officially totally blown their season. They're going to get hammered by Stanford next weekend and end up finishing 6-6. It was such a promising season just a few months ago...

Well, when you play teams like FIU, you get to pad winning streaks.

No kidding, I'm tired of these top ranked teams padding their seasons with cake games.
2009-11-22, 10:10 AM #60
Most teams do that. Alabama played Virginia Tech as an out of conference game, and Florida vs Florida State was usually between top 10 teams when the contract was renewed to play every year, but FSU sucks now.

Florida's win streak includes LSU, Alabama, Georgia, and Oklahoma.

I meant last year, when Oklahoma and Georgia were actually good.

Oh, my mistake. I read that and assumed they'd played OU this year. :saddowns:

That Texas Nebraska game was a nail biter. I was rooting for Nebraska, but only because I really wanted to see Cincy make it to the National Championship.

Hopefully next year Florida can beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

And I can hope a holding penalty will be called on Alabama, but I doubt that happens.
