Who provides the best reporting?

What I don't get is why he stays here dispite the fact that he is probably the poster whoes political views are furthest from the general massassi population (yes, that even includes obi). I don't understand why he doesnt find another forum with people who have similar political views (and their are many internet forums which I think that he would fit right in with).

Why do any of us stay here? Should he really not come here anymore because his political views are "extreme" in your eyes?

Wookie06 at least provides a dissenting point of view, regardless of what you think, which makes for interesting reads. I have to avoid some threads on GBS at SomethingAwful because they're giant Democrat circlejerks.

Obi hasn't been around as much recently, which is too bad, because despite the fact that maybe his early times here were rocky (were they?), he seemed to be increasingly articulate and intelligent, etc.

Yeah, to me his views have nothing to do with it, it's how he has come to have those views and his method of arguing them that is flabbergasting to the point of aggravation.
He acts as if everyone here hates him and he stays simply because it annoys people.
Not that I'm saying he doesn't meet a lot of opposition here, of course he does, but if we're all as mean and petty as he implies why on earth would he keep coming back? Is it because he does just want to annoy? Does he feed on hate? It's quite strange.

I'm not sure what you're talking about. I didn't do anything to incite attacking me. Jon`C wants to use everything from my age to prior occupation (and even military regulation facial hair) to insult me. I thought he would like to know that he can add my weight to the list.

Nope. Simply missed that his username is spelled incorrectly. Now I need to check to see if the member that bragged about lying to join the military is the same as him. I could have sworn the username was Anthony but this is actually a quite well documented optical illusion anyway. How the brain inserts letters and all.

Wow, pretty active discussion here. Just in the time it has taken to reply to these posts I see many more popping up. Cool!

No, everyone here doesn't hate me. Every once in awhile a brave soul speaks up when you're all on the attack. I think some of you that actually care (read: not Jon`C) should step back and reevaluate some of your actions. Many of my confrontations with Jon`C are a good example of how when I have actually tried to converse in rational manner it still just ends up in him making pejorative attacks. He is perfectly unwilling to discuss things in a rational manner but I think the rest of you should strive to be better.

It should also be recognized that it is hard for so few intellectual conservatives on this board to consistently converse with so many progressives. This is a relatively recreational activity for all of us and the few vocal conservatives are vastly outnumbered here. I simply don't have time to respond to the volume of posts you all create for me.

Didn't want you to feel ignored. I was hoping the link pertained to the "concentration camp" issue. Still, it was interesting. Not sure why it would be considered controversial by anyone but I thank you for posting it.

Even their "straight news coverage" is plagued w/ issues. I know that's a lot to read but I would encourage you to do so. There are some serious & valid concerns w/ the way these folks operate. This goes far beyond bias. Dangerously so...

I don't personally think that Glenn Beck or Wookie are racists. Ethnocentrists maybe.

I'm on your side when it comes to the facial hair, to be honest. My recruiting Sgt *****es at me for not having regulation facial hair all the time. You don't have a choice. I understand that.

My username is not spelled incorrectly. My name is Antony.

I'm not sure who you're thinking of who lied about joining the military. I have 76 days until I ship to MCRD Parris Island. I'm trying to learn as much as I can before then to help become the best Marine I can be. I'm pretty sure I've asked you for advice, Wookie06.

Just because I disagree with your political views, and your general way of relating to this community doesn't make me your enemy. As much as I hate to say it, I respect you.

Ahahaha. What a fantastic story!

Here are some of our earliest encounters:

- You ignore an entire post because you personally dislike the author. I point out that it's an ad hominem; you call me an internet bully.

- Sarn Cadrill and Alco are arguing with me that someone on a plane in 2001 could not have possibly made a cell phone call (even though they can, and they did.) You 'agree' with me by calling me a dick.

- I post a diatribe against Fox News, including video and image evidence that they air disinformation to sway the opinion of voting republicans. You respond with an assertion that all 'normal' people enjoy Fox News, and challenge me to prove a negative.

Wookie06, since you started posting on this forum you've been obstinate, deliberately obtuse and aggressively hostile. You've never 'invited' anybody to a serious debate, and you've certainly never accepted our invitations. You aren't a victim and nobody will ever believe that you are. If anything, you're the biggest (and most successful) troll on this forum. Get over yourself, stop lying, gtfo.

It's true that Jon has been making a bunch of personal attacks on Wookie in this thread, but I don't remember him doing that with someone who disagrees with him but is also reasonable and knows how to present their arguments in a logical manner.

Wookie to me doesn't come off as stupid, but I think he probably sacrifices a lot of his own potential for insight and critical evaluation of matters in favor of thoughts spoonfed by Fox News, right wing public personalities and whatnot. There's people like that in left leaning individuals as well, of course.

Oh, and he's more arrogant than I guess he likes to think.

So there's the official Krokodile sentencing on the subject!
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

I would consider that stupid

Equally stupid, probably even more stupid because I don't know of a left wing equivalent of Fox (not as strong and as big as Fox), so they don't have that kind of excuse (could be wrong on this though)

Jon`C, those sound like very entertaining threads. Could you link to them, please?

Okay so I found the Twin Towers thread. For crying out loud, that was so tongue in cheek and one of at least two times I stated favorable opinions of you. The other when JM was deriding you.

I'll try to find the others now.

This is true. Anyone who leans a smidge right is vilified.

GASP.

Well get this: I'm a massive lefty, yes, BUT I actually support our current Conservative/Lib Dem coalition. Our former Labour government spent too much money on stuff it couldn't afford and we need some more right wing economic policy to settle things out. Luckily they've had to get into bed with the Liberals who mainly just manage to keep them sane enough to not be hated. It's actually very mutually beneficial apart from the fact that Lib Dem supporters seem to equate compromise with BETRAYAL.

...aaaaaanway....
