April Non-fools!

I know some of you were expecting a joke, but what else is better than something you're not expecting?

As you all can tell, I've updated the forums to the latest version of VB. This took way more work than it should have (VB4 completely changed theming, and essentially made it a maze to find anything), but it's up and usable now.

That said, I know there are some rough areas, and I do plan on stripping out all the extra stuff that we never use to remove clutter, but since the forum is functional and working now, I figure I can make these changes at my leisure later, without feeling pressured to get it all tested at once.

Feel free to point out specific areas or functionality that does not work as expected, and also feel free to experiment with the new functionality (Insert Video for instance will replace the YouTube tag, and is easier to use).

Here's things I'm aware of:
1. hex post counts
2. user profile color scheme
3. bbcode buttons are hard to see
4. missing some old forum artwork
5. Massassi green theme not yet ported (awaiting this theme to be finished first, and will base it off that)

Orrrrrr....how about taptalk? OR a massassi app via taptalk like droidforums has? I would pay for that.

Taptalk is a piece of crap that has been well known to cause security issues AND break forums, for what is, at best, a minor improvement in usability on devices that already sport first-class web browsers.

I have the Tapatalk app for my Symbian phone, but I can't get it to work. If I press "browse forums" for instance, it says "loading forums" but nothing ever happens beyond that and I have to kill the app.

I know Symbian is a horrible, horrible OS and I know my phone is a horrible, horrible phone but how can this app not work at all when it's available for the OS and not in beta phase?

Edit: actually now I searched for the name of a forum I frequent that I know supports Tapatalk, and it says 1 forum found...but that's it, it's just that message on a black background and I can't press anything to view the search results, much less access the forum it claims to have found...

Get used to it because we had to upgrade. They are going to phase out support for VB3 entirely.

It's really, really not. I can change that folder to be anything. Brian just installed VB to it for some reason. I could change it, but it'd break a bunch of URLs so no point.

The problem I have with this forrest layout is that it has crappy contrast in places.

-Well, it's not so bad. I look forward to getting the green and black back, though. Maybe if the smoothness of this theme were combined with the fine contrast of the green and black, it would be more inviting.

The old one did the tooltip pop-up for the main post in the thread list only when you hovered over the title - this one does it when you hover over any part of the colour block around it.

Maybe it's just me but I think it works better the old way.

It's a slightly milder, yellower green. Ye Olde Massassi had a very rich bright green.

This is nothing short of awful. But that happened every time we did an upgrade and bradsh and others worked for a few days and it came out perfect. Hopefully CM will be as anal as I was...

The problem is that everything is so ****ing busy. There's links and text and **** everywhere, I can barely find the messages. And when I do there's 85 lines of crap and icons and links and text before I get to the next one. Annoying.

I for one take this as I was right, CM didn't do anything for April Fools.

I think the worst offenders is the thread lists. The individual threads actually mirror the VB3 version quite closely, except that the buttons are bigger with text at the bottom of posts, instead of along the top.

I guess I'm the only one who used the Corporate theme. The default theme is close enough. Good work keeping us updated, CM.

For some reason none of the new or updated threads appear bold like they used to. Does anyone else have this problem?

It's currently very difficult to read on mobile safari. I'm sure it'll all get valmorphinised soon though.

Meh... I've dealt with worse on other forums. Like the FFVII one I'm a memeber on. It used to be bad, then it got worse, now it's practically dead.
