Funny how Urban Dictionary disagrees with you on the urban usage of words.

I can't believe that I'm going to further humor you with a response but I couldn't help but notice that you overlooked the #1 search result for the term "nympho" on Urban Dictionary (the one that you yourself posted).

Quote:
Someone, normally female, that eats, breathes, & lives for sex. She dreams about it, often playing it over so much in her mind that something she has never tried can be exceptional the first time done with another person. She is insatiable & always ready to play but that does not always make her a slut or whore, for she can be picky in her selection.

Do you see where it says "normally" (I made it bold, italicized & even underlined it since you so easily overlooked it the first time)? Now, let's fulfill your nerd-dreams even further by defining the word "normally".

Quote:
nor·mal·ly/ˈnôrməlē/Adverb
1. Under normal or usual conditions; as a rule.
2. In a normal manner; in the usual way.

If you'll kindly re-read my explanation that you so rudely disregarded, you'll recognize the fact that I stated that in urban-speak a nympho isn't always a female (see "normally").

Now that the argument is settled, if you'd like to further argue that only strict interpretations of words should be used in the world, then I'll kindly direct you to your television monitor, so that you can converse with the characters of the Star Trek episode that you're currently beating off to.

P.S.

considering urban-dictionary's entries as submitted by goobers like you, it's no surprise that one entry is unsure of the gender. There are nymphs and there are satyrs. The fact that a lot of urban people (read: morons) don't understand words doesn't change what the words mean.

I fail to see how a chocolate covered peanut could submit anything other than deliciousness to ones mouth.

Whose the bigger moron? The one that submits definitions to Urban Dictionary or the one who cites them because of their lack of real-world human interaction?
? :)

Clearly because I know things I must be devoid of human interaction.
TAKES HINTS JUST FINE, STILL DOESN'T CARE
2011-04-26, 11:20 AM #48
You're devoid of human interaction because you failed to recognize the fact, even after it was explained to you, that we KNEW that a nympho was TYPICALLY a female but we also KNEW that in urban-speak it could be a male as well. It was a joke. Maybe a bad one but instead of just writing it off as a bad joke & recognizing the fact that a lot of people do call males nymphos as well (e.g: learning something that you apparently DIDN'T know), you had to act as if you were somehow superior.

Some of yall seem to miss the point of the internet. The internet is where you can satisfy your human need to share your achievements and accomplishments on a wide scale, without fear or reprisal.

And what's more likely, that he had a threesome and randomly decided to post about it, or that he randomly woke up one morning and thought to himself "hey I am craving some internet attention. I will make up a story about having a threesome and bask in the superficial, internet glory!"

The latter.

You have obviously missed the point. The fact that a bunch of uneducated fools call men nymphos doesn't make it true, no matter how much you'd like to believe it to be.

So, you were just pretending to be ignorant of the fact that the word is often used to describe both sexes & were merely trolling? Congratulations! You should be so proud!

I have another one for you. However, I'm certain that you're already aware of the word, you being so educated & all.

I've never personally been involved in a threesome but I would assume that it would be quite nice & worth bragging about. I've dated bi-sexual women before but they were always the jealous type & no fun at all. :(

The mistake you're making is cock has two distinct meanings. Nympho does not. I'd rather be pretentious than unable to admit that I'm wrong.

it does now. we here at the Society for Continuous Updating of the Emglish Language (SCUEL) just held a conference and voted unanimously to amend the meaning of "nympho" to include males.

When it doesn't really matter, then yes. Of course, I have to admit, very few things really matter that much to me, and I'm the happier for it.

No one here made such an egregious mistake. You're merely incapable of admitting the fact that you didn't know that the word "nympho" was sometimes used to describe both males & females.

Once I pointed out to you that you were wrong, using your own source I might add, you then pretended to know this fact all along.

You pretend as if you're one of the few enlightened individuals in the world that knows the dictionary definition of the word "nympho" despite the fact that it's used throughout pop-culture. If I had known that only strict definitions of words were allowed in your presence then I probably would've said "satyriasis" or merely kept the joke to myself in the first place. However, I wasn't forewarned that such an intellectual as yourself was going to be in attendance.

I never said that people didn't use nympho to mean men. I never said that it was news to me. What I said, and I maintain, is that just because they use a word incorrectly and believe that it is, in fact correct, does not make their usage of the word correct. I don't know why I'm arguing this anymore because you clearly have problems with understanding words.

Considering the word form is derived from the Greek word for one set of a lady's lips, I'd say it's safe to assume the the word is decidedly female.

Quote:
nym·pho·ma·nia
noun \ˌnim(p)-fə-ˈmā-nē-ə, -nyə\
Definition of NYMPHOMANIA
: excessive sexual desire by a female
— nym·pho·ma·ni·ac noun or adjective
— nym·pho·ma·ni·a·cal adjective
Origin of NYMPHOMANIA
New Latin, from nymphae inner lips of the vulva (from Latin, plural of nympha) + Late Latin mania mania

Anyone that has read this entire thread & actually thinks that we're arguing over the literal definition of the word "nymphomaniac" is an idiot. No one has made the claim that you're suggesting. It's a gutsy move though to think that everyone here is ignorant enough to buy it. Maybe someone will bother to read it all line by line but I doubt it because they're too busy having threesomes & orgies while we're partaking in the biggest nerd-fest that I've ever witnessed.
