In any case, DrkJedi82, I believe you're referring to the pre-Crisis-on-Infinite-Earths continuity. After reality was altered in 1985, reality reset itself so that Abe fought Godzilla and the Pope fought Prime.

In the current continuity, it was believed by conspiracy theorists that the Civil War was a cover up for Abe vs Prime, but it was retconned that it was actually Dr. Robotnik masquerading as Prime.

Then Abe was killed fighting Godzilla at the Ford Theatre. Godzilla was brought to justice by She-Ra.
