I still like A New Hope best, because it stands on its own so well. Empire Strikes Back is so dark, so down, you need the other two films to balance it out and put it in context, tying up the massive loose ends it leaves in its wake.
I saw some of the new additions on io9:
The new "No. Noooo!" I'm... not feeling. But I never hated the RotS scene it's calling back to, so it doesn't bug me.
The
new "Krayt Dragon" sound really doesn't have a good sense of audio continuity. It sounds like something that somebody just slapped onto the scene. That being said... I think I see where he's coming from with this, since
sounds like a siren starting out. They have a similar audio structure, though. And I wonder if maybe the echo is supposed to clue the audience in that it's an illusion? I dunno. I can understand the reasoning, but that doesn't mean I have to like the execution. Also, while the original also had this problem, this version even moreso sounds like it can't possibly be Kenobi's actual voice, since at least the original didn't sound like it was being done by a human voice at all.
Ewoks blinking? I got no problem with it. And if you have a problem with the ewoks blinking, then the problem is with you.
-I've always been rather lenient when it comes to the changes he makes over the years, since I guess I happen to kinda agree with his "Rebirth of the Author" stance on this sort of thing, so I probably won't mind too terribly most of what goes on. Oh, except for the musical scene in Jabba's palace, that's miserable.
