There are definitely too many lawyers, but it's not impossible to find a job, and the overall Colorado job market is very good right now so I expect that will help.

hey look, a Steven Crowder video where he isn't shouting in the most annoying way possible
2018-07-27, 4:46 PM #88
My favorite video from Stephen Crowder is this one:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lq4WBOkFNtE

I like it because it makes it clear what his supporters, aka Fox News type people, actually think like, which is to say: well, you know my opinion already.

It's kind of a perfect mini narrative for Trumpism, too. You make up a bunch of bull**** about immigrants earning a middle class income (most aren't) using dubious statistics, then you get in your truck, harass them and threaten to call ICE. Like, Trumpism is just a bunch of these guys getting together.

Trumpism is that guy who was stepping on that girl's head at the Rand Paul rally

Trumpism is when you covfefe, bigly. It NEVER works out, and ALWAYS wastes So Much Time. Sad!

Pretty good article by Ben Shapiro today.

Also, the NYT Editorial Board's statement on their decision to hire her contains one of the more pathetic excuses for being racist: "but I was trolling!"
[...] Her journalism and the fact that she is a young Asian woman have made her a subject of frequent online harassment. For a period of time she responded to that harassment by imitating the rhetoric of her harassers. [...]
https://www.nytco.com/statements-in-response-to-criticism-of-the-hiring-of-sarah-jeong/ Note that I couldn't care less whether or not they hire this (apparently somewhat bitter toward "white people") person, and I think it's wrong to pay attention to Twitter mobs for hiring decisions (as Ben Shapiro points out).

Wow, that chick is a real piece of ****.

She should fit right in at the NYT.

NYT has lots of great people, like Paul Krugman. She ain't one of them tho, lol.

OK, spending a bit of time on the NR website and now I see this hilarious article: apparently, UConn is offering, no joke, counselling to students distraught by even the thought of Shapiro coming to speak at their beloved university... oy vey!
We understand that even the thought of an individual coming to campus with the views that Mr. Shapiro expresses can be concerning and even hurtful and that’s why we wanted to make you aware as soon as we were informed.

In the meantime, please utilize the many campus resources available to you should you want to talk through your feelings about this issue, including my office, the Cultural Centers, the Dean of Students Office, and CMHS, if necessary.

That said, I admit that article is kind of clickbaity, since I was at an American university within the last couple of years, and I received a lot of silly emails from official university organizations about, well, pretty much every little petty issue. I guess that's academia for you.

Ever seen Ben Shapiro give the bullhorns? Makes me want therapy, too. Has that keen, focused look, something between a cannibal and a near-sighted frat boy trying to figure out which solo cup has the GHB in it.

Wow, that actually makes me sad.

You really have to read the lines here. This is more saying "here's some alternatives please don't act out".

back in my day, whenever a conservative hebrew boy came to speak at my school, we didn't go to our safe space therapy cry closets, we put on our black bandanas and threw Molotov cocktails and took over the library, like REAL AMERICANS

If I were a student at UConn I could certainly do that. But at my university, I mostly responded to such non-sense by tossing these nothingburger walls of text into the trash bin where they belong, or simply taking a moment to chuckle at the sheer volume of minutia that (apparently) occupies university staff.

Was I supposed to read the lines here, or between them, and infer that you really meant that you really have to read between the lines?

Either one should be fine, so long as we accept wisdom handed down to us from the university as the word of God.

Was meant to say between, whoops.

This is like that time Neil Armstrong said that he had taken "one small step for (a) man; one giant leap for mankind", but forgot to say the 'a' part, and left everybody puzzled as to some kind of deeper, philosophical meaning of what was really just the result of a mistaken omission of a word.

So, I live with a religiously Jewish person. We had a Jewish dinner tonight, and one of the attendees is engaged to none other than one of Ben Shapiro's close relatives. Really close.

He went through college much younger than his classmates and experienced almost no social life. “I’m not a ‘friends’ person by nature,” he said, explaining that he spent, and still spends, almost all of his free time with his family. “I went to a couple of parties in college and I thought they were boring.”

He says he graduated college a virgin and, in accordance with Orthodox tradition, remained a virgin until his marriage at 24. He met his Orthodox wife through one of his sisters. On their first date, he told me, they had a four-hour conversation about “free will and determinism.” They were engaged three months later.

He has never tried marijuana or any other drug. When I asked if he wasn’t a little curious, he mounted a quintessentially conservative miniargument against curiosity. “I’m not someone who feels the need to try every experience,” he said. “I was a virgin until I was married, but I don’t think I missed out. I feel like my sex life is fantastic.”

Of all the negative things you can say about Ben Shapiro (or anyone, really), I don't understand why you'd tease someone about being bullied when they were a child. There's something so cruel and mean-spirited about it.

And giving someone a hard time because they were a virgin until they married at 24? Or treating it as a fault that someone would wait until marriage before having sex? Something about that seems like liberal condescension towards religious people (to me, anyway).
