Every robot needs a car...

This is all made/rendered in animation:master. It's a wonderful program once you get used to it. It's cheaper than most 3d software (you can get it for $200 with a student discount), but 200 is still a lot if you're not serious about it. I've never tried Maya PLE, so I can't really help you there.

As for time, were you talking about the model or learning the software? I've been using AM for maybe 4 or so years, but I made the whole model yesterday cause I had nothing better to do...

Thanks for everybody's input and replies so far!

sorry for the lack of updates. I got it mostly textured, but then something happened to my software. Whenever I try to start it I get a "No graphics assistance driver found" message. Re-installation and system restores do not fix it.

Might I ask....where do you go to school? Are you majoring in animation?

What did you make this in? [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Sorry for the questions, but I'm a prospective college student and I'm looking for all the info I can get lol

Hi
I'm actually still a senior in high school, so I'm in the same boat as you. I'd like to major in animation or something to do with 3d graphics, but I'm still looking at schools and majors.

Everything was made in animation master.

I would go with a different look for the wear and tear... chrome just doesnt look like that when you blast it at high speeds or whatever. It just looks like its got some surface dirt on it.

The dirt ends at about the same height everywhere, maybe a bit more diversity in that would look better?

A city. Lots of chrome.

I think the car should be black and shiny. It's be a great contrast to the white background and light gray (chrome) robot.

The robot is chrome, his "car" shouldn't be. I mean you don't see people driving around in flesh colored vehicles.

You could do the inverse of what you have now. All the current chrome is made black, and all the current black is made chrome. It might look cool, dunno.

For a location I'd say a city on the moon or something.

The second one has a higher contrast to the passenger/pilot, and therefore is more visually appealing. Black Chrome would be sweet, but this shiny-ish matte-ish black works well enough.

I think the first one looks cooler, but I'd go with the second one because of what saberopus said... if the robot sits in there you don't want him to blend in

2, but use the joystick and seat colors from #1. They look better (peices that look to be soft or rubbery (bendy joint things, seat, head cushion) should be black, and metal pieces should be chrome (bars and tubes).

I think the location should be a desert with lots of rocky surfaces, mountains, cliffs and some neat futuristic towers, domes and whatever else would look nice. I think the reflection of the desert would look really sexy on his chrome plating (even better with the sun in front of him).

I like the black one much better, but like they said above, make it darker and shinier or something... Also, you might think about putting some kind of logo or vents or something on the front, because atm, the front of the car looks a little bland, imo.
