Thanks...that's high praise, comparing my stuff to Pixar. I actually taught myself everything that I know about 3d, I've never taken a 3d class in my life. I'm still in high school, but I'll hopefully take some classes on it in college.

ok kool, i might be getting myself that now, seeing how gd it is and all, how easy is it to create animations?
2004-02-18, 10:23 AM #127
I've tried out a few different pieces of software for animating, and IMO Animation Master is the easiest to animate in. That's probably it's strongest point, it makes animation very easy. It allows you to concentrate on the art of animating instead of the technical aspect of it.

If you go to http://www.hash.com/VM/ there is a video demonstration of AM at work. I'd recommend checking it out, it shows a lot of what AM can do.

Really nice! If possible, make the grass ripple when he zooms past and make the vehicle kick up some dust which gets blown laterally away with the wind. Try adding a ring of dust under the vehicle too when it's hovering in it's place.
If it breaks, you get to keep both pieces.

Murc XIII, talk some sense into this man. He is actually going to buy this 200 dollar program... He doesn't know the first thing about 3D Animation! He has the attention span of a goldfish. is this program like worth 200 dollars if you have no clue what your doing? That being said...

I saw some really sweet picture of a close up of the robotnear the telephone poles on your art site.

yeah, sorry about that. Those are his eyelids (which will be black). I modeled them closed and forgot to hide them before rendering.

I was actually just talking about this with my dad. I've been doing 3d for about 3 years now, and I feel like I've only really gotten the feel of it in the past year. AM has a very steep learning curve, but once you learn it you can do anything you want.

For someone new to 3d, I'd recommend trying out 3d first with either demos or freeware. I personally started working in anim8or ( www.anim8or.com ). Other than that, I know many people who use wings3d or blender (blender is a bit harder to learn from what I've heard). There are also trial versions of Maya and Cinema4d. Try those out first and see if you like it. If you do, then you can spend the money on a higher-level program.

EDIT: heh, I browsed the gallery at the anim8or site and found one of my first 3d images:

I've come a long way since then...

Black looks thousands of times better. I don't like how the chrome looks against the dirst and grass. Oh and change the small peices on the vents (everything but the trim(the little flaps)) black. I think that would look nice.

okay...sorry to keep giving you guys different stuff, but I've finally decided what I'm going to do with it.

I'm going to make it more 'personalized', with bumper stickers, dirt, and maybe some handpainted stuff on it. Any suggestions along those lines?

mm last picture is very nice, but i think you should add bigger grass in back, now it looks like green carpet..

The miners of Kiith Somtaaw sacificed much, and risked all. For their efforts they were brought into the inner most circle of Hiigaren power. Naabal, S'jet, and Sobanii bowed before them. And from that day to this, Somtaaw's children have been known to one and all as Beastslayers..

I didn't render any grass in that last picture (for the sake of time). Don't worry, when I rende the grass it sticks up pretty far.
