yeah, sorry about that. Those are his eyelids (which will be black). I modeled them closed and forgot to hide them before rendering.
I was actually just talking about this with my dad. I've been doing 3d for about 3 years now, and I feel like I've only really gotten the feel of it in the past year. AM has a very steep learning curve, but once you learn it you can do anything you want.
For someone new to 3d, I'd recommend trying out 3d first with either demos or freeware. I personally started working in anim8or (
www.anim8or.com ). Other than that, I know many people who use wings3d or blender (blender is a bit harder to learn from what I've heard). There are also trial versions of Maya and Cinema4d. Try those out first and see if you like it. If you do, then you can spend the money on a higher-level program.
