I agree with Sine and Emon. I also love the lighting and textures. I'm really interested in opening that sucker up and looking at the cleaving you did for the sake of the lights. In the high-contrast shot, it almost looks like you cleaved two concentric octagons on the ceiling around the light.. it's a pretty advanced technique you can use to jerryrig the diffuseness of the lights in JK.

This time around I am focusing on realizm, not crazy architecture. Since I am using pictures of a REAL insane asylum for reference.. I think the architecture looks pretty good

It's like.. totally a jumbled mess! Heh, nice.. The thought never occured to me before to cleave in kind of a "spider-web" pattern like that. It seems to work very well.

EDIT: And I just noticed your doors aren't even evenly-spaced. You're not a big fan of symmetry and congruent-figures, are you? :p

As for the lighting through out the level, I think I am going to try to make it bright near the roof, and nearly black at the floor... beacue it'll make it look more like there are actual light bulbs at the roof (which there will be) and because it kinda makes me feel paranoid and freaked out cause I can't see what i'm walking on... it's hard to describe the feeling you get

The up'ed contrast picture looks soo freaking cool.. if you could pull that off through the whole level it'd be really freaky! But in a cool way

Interesting idea. I think an "overlit" place with the sound of buzzing lightbulbs could offset the "in the dark" horror with something more... direct?

It DOESN'T have to be overly elaborate and detailed for it to look good. Simply judging something on the effort spent is NOT valid. The simplicity and atmousphere of this room is all of the things I thought lab wasn't, and should have been.

I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but it's much more than that.. I spent an entire day on the "hallway" room to make the lighting just the way I want it. And that's pretty much what ANY level is.. lighting textures and architecture....

I still say the door area isn't all that spiffy, but the hallway with the ceiling lighting is really cool. I would have maybe waited until you had more down to showcase, though, Spiral. :/

Why does everyone say the LA textures are crap? The LA people knew what they were doing. The 09fuel set it awesome, just noone knows how to use them.

Yeah, I've seen a few more shots from this level... Spiral is taking the EXACT appraoch I would have taken for a scary atmousphere in a level. Simplicity far overpowers elaborate design as far as scary goes.

Box+textures+lighting = better than quake.

Ah, I see how you intend to light the place. Neve mind my comment on the floor; since the player will only be able to barely see a small portion of it, that texture would be much better. By the way, what form of lightning items do you intend on giving the player? (headlight, gun light, flashlight, no light?)

That reminds me of The Sufering so much it's actually scary. Keep it up with some more lighting work and some more customations you could have one hell of a scary level on your hands.

well spiral has shone us his arch. talent in previous levels lots of times, he has the talent, but hes not making the rooms round. most rooms are square anyway, look around. hes still got things to add so don't act as if this is the final. i just beta tested this level and from all angels the textures look great. the lighting is awesome, you've got it down spiral, keep it up.

Okay Spiral, I never said your working is bad, your lighting is phenominal, but idk, MY opinion is that your should work on more architectual detail wherever it can be put, I understand some areas can be boxy, which is realistic, but other things should be more detailed? IDK... good work btw...

The first bed shot, actually creeped me out (not easy to do. good job!).
