Thats how a girl should be made. They look so awsoem like that. :P
 Well to each his own I suppose.... but I've always been a bigger fan of more feminine curves, as opposed to the bulky male body-builder thigh.

I know the "How A Female Body SHOULD Be Modelled" topic has always been contraversial around this forum..... many say a woman player model should look like how a real woman looks... and I do agree... at least for a Star Wars game.... But "real" doesn't mean you have to add cellulite and/extreme muscle mass. I mean there are real women who are also thin in the world.

In the case of Sariss, she is a Dark Jedi.... a master of the force. I think during her strict trails, traing, and spar sessions, she'd have little to no excess body fat. I'm not gunna be one of the punks you says "make her b00ds bigger" or "make her stick thin with cartoony proportions".... I want realism as much as the next.... but I happen to know what real looks like. A healthy looking, thin yet athletic look should be the goal for her figure.

I even asked my girlfriend's opinion on the model... just to hear a real woman's thoughts on this subject. She said, "Waist up she looks great. I love the face and eyes. But waist down, she looks like a WWE wrestler." And it's true... she's got China all over her legs.

But aside from that I love it so far. The upper torso will be near perfect once you iron out that seam. You never let me down Shred.

My perception is based on my vision. My girfriend doesn't have proprtions anything like that... and she is indeed quite an athelete.

I think she is perfect.

haven't you guys seen women? They have larger thighs than us males. They are supposed to. Their hips are wider for child bearing. They are made this way..

And I love it!

Sarris isn't the young thing she once was. The 'women' the critisizers are comparing her too aren't 35, they are probably barely 15.

Then again, being a fierce dark jedi witch, she could do use a bit of upper body strength.

[edit]
Looking back at the model, the only thing you might want to do are shape her but a little more. Then she'd be perfect.
[/edit]

Um.

She's wearing clothes. Obviously that's going to throw off the shape of her body a bit.
It looks perfectly natural to me.

Well to be perfectly honest... I believe that your Jedi women should be more of sprited slightly delicate creature with the fieriousity of a dark Jedi.... not a macho buff legged babe. I think that if she were to look like the actress in the red dress.... the one who played in the cut scene's.... then I could say she is perfect. The illustrated version of her is cartoony, and is not realistic at all and should not be used as a reference. I should know things about a women..... I am one.
The face and the arms are beautifully done..(she would make a perfect elf with that face, very elvish features) Might I say that you are amazing at this.....

area from the waist to the knee does need to be skinnier, and her upper arms look to be less muscular than her forearms (which im pretty sure doesn't make sense anatomically, and isnt accurate to the actor/character)

monoxide, it's perfectly fine to be 'nitpicky' when a very easy change can be made to make something a lot more accurate.

and jon, that image doesnt show large legs at all, at least not as large as the model (maybe im thinking more of the torso area)

skinnier upper legs, more muscular upper arms, and it's perfect. cant wait to see the texture either way.

Why do women in computer games always have to look like Kate Moss? Real women just aren't that skinny. Have you guys ever seen soldier girls? They look exactly like this sariss model. And having thinner bicepses than forearms is nothing uncommon at all.
I think it's a very good remodel of the original JK Sariss.

Hi. I have a thing for skinny girls. (Just thought I'd let ya know.)
I was siding with the "skinnier Sariss," but then I started doing a flash-back-and-forth with the concept art and the model. I'm afraid I like it as it is now. Way to go, Shred.

The problem is the proportions. Compare the legs with the arms. You either need to give her bigger arms or thinner legs.

you're contradicting yourself. if you're a 'soldier girl' then you will have muscular biceps. sure there are girls who have never been to the gym who would have skinny upper arms, but if you're going to compare the model to something for the legs, keep it the same way for the arms.

stop saying we dont know what real women look like. there's a picture of the real woman in the thread and the has skinnier legs and bigger upper arms than the model has.

and jedi dont need muscle at all, btw... anyone forgetting what yoda said? so whatever muscle sariss had coming into the jedi order (which probably wasnt any because most of them are kids when they join) isnt going to be too much more than what it is when Jk happened.

im getting to much into it, the model needs to be changed and that's really all there is to it, and changing it would be very simple to do, so just do it. please.

Bear in mind that the concept art of Sariss is a poorly drawn piece of rubbish. It looks NOTHING (with the exception of the clothes) like the cutscene actress OR the original player model. If I had never played JK before and I saw that sketch, I would've sworn I was looking at a cartoony doodle of an ugly man! Look, it's evident that not even LEC liked the sketch, as they didn't even consider it. So why should we? Does anyone here disagree that the concept art sucks?

And I thought everyone here was an advocate for modelling things after the cutscenes.... why all of a sudden aren't they being considered?

And drop the whole "soldier" crap. Sariss wasn't a SOLDIER... she wasn't BUTCH... she was a graceful yet wicked Dark Jedi. She doesn't need powerful muscles to fight... she uses the frickin' FORCE!!i! Body-building would have been a waste of time for her.... yoga classes would have been more usefull to her.

Look at Yoda for cryin' out loud! He's a little frail twig, but with the force, he becomes a but-kickin` acrobatic saber monkey, not to be messed with!! Why on earth would Sariss need to have Conan the Barbarian legs?

I know this is just my view.... maybe I'll stand corrected once it's done and textured. I hope.

WTF are you talking about. Soldiers don't need big or strong biceps. Legs and core are the most important muscle groups. Running and carrying a pack are important, not pretty biceps for the beach.

For all the pushups (and for Marines, pullups) that you do in the military (which, don't work your biceps, pushups that is, pullups do) biceps are not terribly important besides keeping them somewhat strong and healthy. Let us not foget that the tricep muscles are 80% of the arm. Throw a 50 pound pack on your back, an 8 pound rifle in your hands (or PVC pipe, heh, I don't rate for a real rifle), a 20 pound LBV on your shoulders and that will be what I am doing before boot camp, in the fleet it would be much more. Now wake up the next day and do pushups and pullups. Not too bad. Try and do your usual routine of 150 bodyweight squats and dragon flags.

Now, I'm not actually nitpicking about the model anymore, you said something and I'm a twit so I have to rant about it. No hard feelings? :p
2005-08-22, 9:35 AM #154
soldiers carry big guns, just heavy anything... i carry a 1 lb. LRT computer thing all day at work and my biceps are bigger than the model.(granted im backroom, so i do heavy lifting and such, but still, so would a "soldier") im just saying for people to be saying that she's some kinda weightlifting soldier girl... the arms arent matching up, and they're being ignorant for some reason.. it seems everywhere else they want to make this mod as close to the orignal as possible.
