Overall the model is great. Now on to the complaints that I have no right to make!

I think the arms need to be fattened slightly, most women pack some fat on their arms unless they have a really low BF...look at the picture of the cutscene actress. Those are nice arms, not thin but nice.

The butt needs some serious work IMO, I don't see a transition from the bottom of her butt to her leg, men and women have a change there...unless she's suppose to be wearing baggy pants. The thighs could stand a bit of a trim I think too.

To all those saying, make her a "real woman". I thought the goal was to make these models true to JK? Look at the original darkjedi sariss model, she's fairly thin and clearly a small woman. She had wide hips, average bust and normal legs. I remember liking this 3do because I was surprised they got such a plausible and definatively female form using so few polygons...much better than the "kyle with boobs" that you get to use as multiplayer jan or sariss.

As always, JMO.

I kind of like it as it is, maybe some slight adjustment near the buttocks, though like el Scorcho mentioned.

I'd only recommend keeping things stupidly close to the original if the original is good. To me it seems more likely that a dark jedi witch would rely on the force to enhance her strength than warrior muscles, especially when she was supposed to be a bit of a seductress.

Actually...

Relying on the force instead of muscle would make her legs fatter. Women put weight on their hips and thighs first. Simple fact is, unless a woman does a lot of walking, or is just damn lucky, her thighs get bigger as she gets older. And, again, Sariss isn't the little young thing she used to be.

The reason the concept art looks so off is because her shoulders are wider than her hips. A woman's widest point should be her hips. Trim the thighs on the model a bit, maybe. Narrow the hips? No.

Awesome... except... I see the seam down the middle of the face. :(

Cool. But. Really freaky eyes, and her skin is too dark.

I'm sorry, but I don't approve of the jawline or the skintone. It's not that the quality doesn't reflect great skill or effort, but I feel as though this part needs to be redone.
2005-08-22, 6:08 PM #172
She is progressing well, but I am not very fond of her large eyes and dark skintone.

The Imperial Officer is awesome though. I always liked the tan uniform a lot more than the movie versions.
2005-08-22, 8:05 PM #173
Yea...sariss was always very very pale. That model looks almost hispanic.
2005-08-22, 8:11 PM #174
She looks more like she's going to have skin cancer at age 30. :p
2005-08-22, 8:24 PM #175
She probobly just looks dark compared to your pale, nerd skin.

The skin is fine.

No, it isn't... she has more fair complexion in the cutscenes. See attachment
Wouldn't hurt to make the hair a little brighter either...

Again, I say add a little more muscle to the arms. Sariss is not a stick-armed person, as the attachment also shows.

Otherwise, great so far.

based off those cutscene shots she'd only need the slightest gaining in muscle, and that would be at the shoulder

The upper part of her face is too masculine, especially the eyebrows and forehead. The mouth, lower jaw and chin look very good. And I agree about the skin tone, she should be less tanned.

In general, though, the model looks very good.

So are you gonna make the rest of the Dark Jedis aswell?
2005-08-23, 8:18 AM #180
your all forgetting that thats not ingame yet, the engine might render ingame an little diffrently and the scaling and animations might fit perfect.

So far it looks nice and I'd have to see an ingame shot to really decide if the model needs work.

stop saying everything is fine. this latest skin looks to be lightened quite a bit, but slaw was commenting on the obviously too tanned face. he was correct, it wasn't "fine."

I think her eyes are rather wide.

Ah.... MUCH better..... I like the thinner legs and curves..... much smoother and femine looking. Sexy as hell. I'd only like to see some small changes:

- The textures. It's a great base to work with, but they're not as hig quality as your previous models' skins. The lack of subtle detail and imperfections make it look far more CGI than real. At least compared to yer other models... but then again, this is a WiP.

-The neck is too skinny and long, and the upper arms are slightly on the too thin side.

-There is something about the face/hair that bothers me as well.... but I can't put my finger on it. Maybe it's the lack of facial imperfections or perhaps there's too much contrast and/or saturation. Eh, I dunno.

I agree...it definitly needs to be lightened...why do I get the feeling that Shred isn't going to do anything we recommend though? It seems like he just really is completely ignoring all constructive critisism, which is a shame, because it really could improve the model.

He is listening. I can tell just from the changes he's made so far... I mean just lookit' them sexy legs! He's just not gunna burden himself by explaining why things look the way they do in each stage of the WiP..... instead, he'll deliver a professional, high quality model when he's done, and embrace all of our "OOOOO"'s and "AAAAAH"s... just like every other time.

In Shred I trust.

I agree with halucid

I think the only problem with her is that everything about her face looks too cartoony. Which, in a real life standard, means it looks like she is loaded up with way too much makeup. Try making things look more natural with her, she's not a Siren trying to lure you in to bed, she's a dark jedi badass trying to kill you.

hey im not saying he isnt listening to us, im very glad he made the legs skinnier, and the skin a bit more pale. just needs some more tweaking and it will be up to par with his other models.
2005-08-23, 3:57 PM #195
I'm with Halucid. Shred has never made a crappy model, and he's not about to start. He's listening, but doing it also the way he feels is closest to the actress. I'm sure he'll touch things up as needed. So please give kind criticism and compliments. Such as:

-Another fine model Shred! I can't wait to see her ingame! ;) I'm sure it's because it's WiP, but the only problem I have is her neck -- her collar only went a little ways up the neck.

Keep up the good work!

Not saying I don't think its very good but yea...I guess it just seems like he isn't listening because he doesn't explain or write anything about our suggestions...still looks great tho.

I think the neck problem is most due to the perspective of the shot, not the model itself... in the untextured shots it looks almost -- if not completely -- normal... though I could be wrong

Overall, looks very very good :)

I like it...I feel like I'm nitpicking a great work, its hard for me to be a critic on something I don't feel I could do myself.

It could just be the position her arms are in, but I feel like her shoulders could be narrowed a bit. The neck seems just a little to long, and maybe the head a bit to large? Something just seems a bit off about her head. The ponytail is perfect.

This is just personal opinion, but I think the break between her legs at the crotch shouldn't be so wide. It does go with the thin build you have for her, but it makes her look to thin to me. Most women who are carrying a healthy body fat wouldn't have that kind of break at their crotch.

As always, JMO.
